Just wondering if anyone knows how to get the Google Gadgets Calendar to display the date in DD/MM format. It is displayed in this format on my work PC, but is in MM/DD format on the one at home, but I cannot figure out how it's deciding which format to use.

Doesn't by any chance read your system setting for date format?

But I guess you've got that set to a UK format anyway.

Everything's set to UK in the regional settings. I've just reinstalled Google Desktop on my work PC, and now that's displaying the date in MM/DD format too!

A quick Google found this?

Is this it? http://desktop.google.com/plugins/i/gdcalendar.html

It's this (http://desktop.google.com/plugins/i/milk_clock_calendar.html?hl=en) gadget for Google Desktop.

I've discovered that there are separate UK and US versions of the Google Desktop installer, and that's what dictates the format that the date is displayed in!

I would have thought it was simpler for the program just to go off the system settings rather than have separate versions.

Must be a reason why not.

Me too, but obviously that would make life too easy!

Widgets like these are a common feature on a MAC...I have a host of widgets all free to download. Opera have incorporated it into the browser Widgets (http://widgets.opera.com/)
Widows vista has named them gadgets
