Just wondering...do any of you use it?

I did....until I took fright this evening and cleared it all out. I got a virus last week, and now I'm just wondering how safe it is.

I take it the passwords are stored in a file somewhere on the local machine, so unless it's encrypted, its an open book, right???

But, its so handy...I know I'm going to hate typing all my p/ws

You should be safe if you use a master password. The Help file says:

Firefox can protect sensitive information such as saved passwords
and certificates by encrypting them using a master password. If you create a
master password, each time you start Firefox, it will ask you to enter
the password the first time it needs to access a certificate or stored
password.

I use the master password method also, which means that everytime I start Firefox I have to put it in - but that's it. No other passwords until I restart.

Only reason I have to put it in when I start Firefox is due to the Gmail Manager.

I never knew that either. Thanks for the tip - I've set mine now!
