Possibly a contentious question but, some folk say it's a Good Idea to reboot a few times here and there during the ten day training period. What's the consenus from those in the know? I already had one forced on me when we had a two hour power cut on Tuesday

It takes 3 days to update your profile, so a few reboots now and again in my opinion will not hurt.

Word from the man himself will do for me - off to reboot ;)

On my 10 day, I started with a 7000 kbps profile, so I just left it for two weeks, before re-booting. Did not want to risk lowering it and did not have much chance of it increasing either :)

*Theres logic in there somewhere* :D

I'm rattling around about 4200 right now. Rebooting dropped it to a low 3000 but it's back up again now - pings have soared though. No worries, it's still way up from 2mb.

Perhaps its just me, but, I feel that during the 10 day "training" period, if you reboot/resynch the router, then it will flag up on BT's equipment showing a dropped connection. If this happens too many times, your profile will be automatically lowered to ensure a stable connection thereafter. Best to leave it alone methinks

An occasional reboot should be fine. It is repeated disconnections within a short period of time that DLM reacts to.

My line is retraining at present and I'm monitoring what's happening with the DMT tool. The training switches off for periods - overnight both nights so far - and I've kick started it in the mornings by rebooting.

Funny thing is - when it's training I can only synch at 5xxx but when it shuts down for a rest I can reboot & synch at 7xxx.......until Rambo wakes up, kicks me off and I have to reboot at 5xxx again. Without the reboots I suppose the training would resume automatically after a certain period anyhow. I knew nothing about the process when my line was first trained, though there were a few disconnects during the period. My ISP at the time recommended 1-2 reboots a day during the training period.

I was hoping this retraining would give me a better MSR and thus, more importantly, a higher FTR as I had crappy internal wiring first time around and the numbers ended up low. Can't see how it will happen, though, unless the system allows me to train at a higher synch than it has up to now. On my third day now......

I'm just coming to the end of my ten day training period, and whilst my line started off at a decent 3800, after a couple of days it dropped to 160, and hasn't moved since. Is this normal for training or should I be worried?

Thanks
