Hi there

Just joined ASDL24 from BT India plc :p Been connected for a couple of days and am letting the modem settle down. I bought a Speedtouch 585v6 from DSL and it has version 5.x.x.x firmware, so at some stage after the 10 day period I indent to upgrade the firmware. I wanted to ask what firmware I should get using Firefox, XP Pro / Linux. Want to control the modem using Firefox if at all possible and eventually use the DMT Tool

Read some of the other threads which say there is a compatibility problem with Firefox, XP, DMT etc.

Any help you can give will be great.

Cheers

The firmware update is not done via a browser - it's a seperate window application (so must be on XP not Linux).

Firefox works 100% with the router GUI - it's only IE7 that has a username bug.

........and DMT won't work on firmware version 6.2.x.x or above

I have a Speedtouch 585v6 and it works fine with Windows XP but I just bought and Acer with Vista and it won't connect.
It will connect thru my old Netgear router.
I'm wondering if my Speedtouch needs new firmware as I have Software Release:

Software Release: 5.4.0.11
Software Variant: AH
Boot Loader Version: 1.0.7

and I'm sure there is a newer one.

Where do I find out how to update the software on the Speedtouch ?

Thanks.

You just need to set the IP manually on Vista - then it should work fine :)

This page hast he upgrade files - http://www.thomson-broadband.co.uk/codepages/content3.asp?c=7&ProductID=511

In Vista I've gone into the bit where it says TCP/IPv4 properties.

Obtain an IP address automatically or Use the following IP address.

Then it says IP Address,Subnet Mask,Default Gateway.

EDIT. It's OK I thnk I've got it. I put in a bunch of numbers and it seems to be working. :)

I haven't a clue what I'm doing.
