Hello

Has anyone had experience in setting up the Belkin F5D9630uk4A wireless modem/router with the 8 block ip configuration?

If so, would be grateful for any help in setting it up

Many Thanks

John

Looking at the manual - i'd say:

There is nowhere to turn of NAT! (this is required)

Hello James

You can disable NAT...........

Aha.

Do this then:

On the LAN configuration page, change your LAN IP from 192.168.x.x to your router IP 78.32.xx.xx with the LAN subnet mask of 255.255.255.248. Set the DCHP start pool to the IP after your router, and set the DHCP end pool to 5 IP's after that (second to last from your block of 8).

Then, on the WAN setup page, change it to use a static IP 78.32.xx.xx (same as LAN IP you've just set) with subnet mask 255.255.255.248.

Then, disable NAT.

On your PC's, renew the DHCP and it should pick up an IP of 78.32.xx.xx or you could manually set the PC's IP etc.

Hello James

I will try all that. I had a problem changing 192.168.x.x to 78.32.x.x. Wouldnt accept the change. Will try later on tomorrow. Still with Aq... untill I can sort out the configuration.

Thanks

Do you have a block of 8 with them?

try setting the DNS manually rather than automatically try set them to 195.74.102.146 and 195.74.102.147. Not sure on your pictures you show 192.168 rather than your external 87,>>>>> you say that you can not change it, what error does it give you, if any ?

Hello James

No I don't have a block of 8 with Aq....

This is what I get when I try to replace the lan ip with the router ip, ie changing 192.168.2.1 to 78.32.x.x.

Many Thanks

Are you using the same one as your modem?

In effect your router will take two of your 8 IP's. One for the WAN connection, and one for the LAN connection. Are you using different ones?

I had this same problem on my Belkin.... theres something in the firmware that doesnt let you use the same LAN IP as the WAN IP

ahh right then leave you Lan ip as it is, turn of dhcp, and set your routers ip in your adsl set up, and set it to your 78.>>>>>> and set your dns as well, dont forget to ensure no nat is ticked as well, you don't need to adjust any of your LAN settings as you wont be using them, just set you WAN/ADSL

it should look like this:

username: joebloggs@adsllogin.co.uk
password:********

Connection type PPPoA
VPI: 0
VCI: 38

VC-Mux or just VC based.

set your Ip to 78.>>>>>>> subnet mask of 255.255.255.248
and set you DNS as well
DHCP turned of
No Nat selected

To get your pc to connect, goto Start Menu then control panel

Network Connections then to what ever you are using to connect LAN/Wireless

right click and goto properties, click on TCP/IP and then click on properties again, in there you will need to set the ip again but this time it will be the next number up from our current ip so it will be 78.32.24. +1 from what the router is set to, subnet mask of 255.255.255.248, gate way will be 192.168.2.1 or your routers Ip either should work but I dont know your router that well so you may just use your routers ip 78.32.24.**

then set your DNS again and save it all, you have to do this on every PC you want to connect, but dont forget to adjust the last digit, so one pc as 78.32.24.2 then the next PC will 78.32.24.3 etc

Thanks for all that info rzero......I shall give it a try on activation day 25/6. Reason being is that I have had zero connection most of the day and Im getting fed up of re-setting my router....lol. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.

James is right...you certainly know your stuff, and I do appreciate all the trouble you have both gone to.

I shall give you the full picture on Monday....you will regret it...hehe

Thanks again to you both

No worries fella :) best of luck

Dont forget that you can always set the Belkin LAN IP to one of the block of 8 (resulting in the router using 2 of your 8 IP's) and use DHCP to define the scope for the rest of the 6 IP's you have left so that it will assign them out automatically :) save a bit of configuration trouble at the sacrifice of an IP... its down to you :)
