Hi,
I'm thinking of migrating to you but I'm a little unsure of something.
I'm looking mainly to play on xbox live so im after a low ping (something i dont get currently) but im worried that moving to ADSLMAX will also give me a rubbish ping (is this true?).
But the thing is you only seem to offer MAX packages and unlimted packages, are there any packages that arnt max but say have a cap like 5gb or something?
Thus I have a stable line for gaming and a good ping.
Thanks for the advice,
Alex
Hi alexlindley
I have Home MAX 30...with ADSL24(Enternet)I have been on the ADSLMAX type of account for 2/3 years(was formally with Nildram)It used to be fantastic till Pipex took over then everything started to get slower and slower.
Have been with ADSL24 for 2 months. Download speeds are great...My lads play WOW, final fantasy online, Half life etc...Pings according to the lads about 20-30. This will obviously depend on your line, PC spec etc....Don't forget if you do not like the service you only have to give a months notice and you will not get caught in any LLU service
Keep posting...you can PM Brian (Administrator) for immidiate help on any additional type of packages that may not be listed.
Cliff:)
The package is type is up to you the customer but if you need a fixed speed the only option available is a 2Mbps line and not a Max product.

greyrider

Hi,
Cliff, thanks for the advice, im interested in getting ADSLMAX but I dont want it to end up giving rubbish gaming (which would still be better than what im getting now). I'll be playing on the xbox live service mostly so hopefully it wont have any problems with that. Also, are you saying if i go for the max service i am going to end up being LLU'd? Will this effect my ping too?
Brian, how much is the fixed speed line, which I guess is not LLU'd? I find it a little difficult to figure out the cost of the non MAX packages on your site.
Last of all hello to surfer chick and greyrider, i remember you both from the EFH forums.
Have you both moved to ADSL24 then? What package do you use? How does it compare to the EFH you were getting? What sort of ping do you get now?
PS. Grey, Thanks for the messages u sent to me on the EFH forum, i only read them yesterday with you recommending ADSL24!
Thanks for the advice guys and gals,
Alex

Hi Alex, I've not yet migrated over so can't help you with pings/speed etc ... should have been today but has now been delayed for a week :(
As far as I know, Entanet isn't LLU ... well it can't be as my exchange isn't LLU enabled so I wouldn't be able to migrate to them if that was the case ... but they do offer ADSL Max packages.
I've signed up for the Home MAX 30, after being on a 2Mb fixed connection, so I'm as much in the dark as you as to how it will compare but everyone here seems to be happy with ADSL24 so far ;)
You can order a max product but have it set on a 2Mbps speed and not up to 8Mbps max.
You can give Max a try and your able to move to a fixed speed if needs be.

Brian,
Are the advantages of having a fixed speed that you have a more stable connection and more likely stable pings?
Sorry i don't relly know too much about the technical side of the internet.
Cheers,
Alex
Well its a bit hit and miss cos in my opinion it all depends on local conditions like your internal wiring etc, etc.
I would go for a max product and try it and if that does not work then go to a fixed speed line 2Mbps and give that a go.
No harm done only a bit of trial and error.

Cheers Brian,
Just got a couple more questions;
Once I finally get my MAC code, will I be able to migrate for free if I go for a 12month contract? (I couldnt find any confirmation of that on your website)
I plan to move house in the summer, what is the process? Do you just move the service to the new address? (this is worrying me whether or not to get a 12month contract)
Cheers,
alex

ADSL24 runs on a monthly contract, exactly the same as EFH did :)
hi alexlindley
Forgot to say a warm welcome to the forum:D ....At least you will be familiar with the other people from EFH if you choose to come aboard.
Regards LLU...I mentioned that you would not get caught in a LLU service.....The reason i mentioned this is it means that if you migrate from a LLU ISP....YOU will have to pay a connection charge to your new ISP if they are NOT LLU. Just something to consider when choosing your new ISP.
Enternet have ordered a fifth pipe to cope with the demand for their service. This is very positive way of maintaining a good level of download and ping quality....Especially when you consider that other ISP's are using the throttle method.
Hope this Helps
Cliff
ps Dont have an Xbox..we do have the Wii networked
Hi Alex
I moved house over a year ago. Nildram had to do a cease on the line, then do a reconnect(something like that)charged me about £12.00......Regards ADSL24...well thats one for Brian to answer!!.
Cliff:)
Our normal contracts on a max product is a 1 month contract with a 1 months notice to quit. The 12 months contracts are for the normal 512 products that have no connection fee's involved.
Regarding the move, it would involve a cease and reconnection because BT would need to disconnect you from your old exchange and reconnect you to the new one, this would involve a connection fee and a months notice to quit on your old acount.

That's interesting!
I moved house a year ago whilst with EFH (long before 186K's takeover) and they connected my new house within 10 days notice of moving, and kept my old connection live so I had simultaneaous connections at both houses for several days to ensure I had internet access at all times. It didn't cost me a penny more than my normal monthly fee ;)

So when migrating you dont pay a conneciton fee? ie. It free to migrate to your service?
Do BT disconnect your ADSL line and then reconnect it at your new address, or do I apply to you to disconnect it and then again to reconnect once I have moved?
If i keep the same number does the same apply?
Im assuming your moving to a new exchange.

You will find it does not matter if you move or stay at the same exchange they still have to do a cease and reconnect, (this is BT dont forget)even if you keep the same phone number.

ok. thanks for the advice.
If I migrate to ADSL24 from EFH am I going to be paying a connection fee of £52.88?
Migration from ISP to ISP is free....Unless you are on a LLU ISP then you will have to pay £52.88:D

Does this mean EFH bore the cost of moving my connection then? Not only did I move exchange but my new number wasn't ADSL enabled as no one had ever had an internet connection here.
You were lucky.....My Move got screwed up because the sales person put it in as an upgrade....Got a couple of months payment back, but line was out for three weeks:mad:

Ouch! now that I couldn't have coped with! ... makes me realise just how good EFH were as an ISP before this shambles of a company took over though, ruined it forever :( ... that's why everyone is getting out soon as they can!

Yeah I agree, I didnt have any problems until I started noticing slight delays in downloading when surfing the web and I never used to play games much online, but I just got a 360 and now its unplayable!
No problems before they got took over tho!
Looking forward to joining here now i think!
