15 Hours after the connection goes live, and from running a 2 hour router re-boot script I now have my 7150 profile.

Why most ISPS wont touch it before 10 days I dont understand ;)

It's not the ISP's rule that - it's BT's. We can submit a fault to them within 10 days, but BT reject it...

P.S. Rebooting the router every 2hrs is only going to cause issues further down the line ;)

I dont really understand this ip profile lark.

I am connected at 8128 but thet BT speed tester thing says my IP profile is 6500, so, I d/l at a touch over 6MB (about 750 kb/s) which is 6mb, I reckon I could get 8mb! (about 960Kb/s) if that IP profile was higher, so, will that go up? or, whats the story wit IP Profile? in general.

Cheers.

Hi Fenn,

If you are connecting at 8128, then yes your ip profile should come up to 7150kbps. You are still within your 10 days since connection so give it time. 7150kbps is the highest profile BT will allow so you could see download speeds around the 800kbps mark when the network isn't busy :D

Oh, forgot to mention that you can learn how the IP profile works here http://adsl24.co.uk/faq/index.php?action=artikel&cat=5&id=27&artlang=en

Dirrty A Holes!

lol well I will be more than happy with 7150

How come BT will "ALLOW" 7150 and not 8*** ??

Just curious!

I got solid speeds now anyway

In the simplest terms, because with a SYNC of 8128, the maximum ATM throughput is 7150. If it was any higher you'd see packet loss. If BT had the SYNC at 9000, then a profile of 8000 would work, but they dont...

My IP Profile is taking its sweet ass time!

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 6500 kbps
