View Full Version : IP Profile Still
Hi,
I was wondering if everything was normal as I have been waiting for my IP profile ot update form 6500 to 7150, had my modem on for a few days now, been scouring the forum and came accross sombody talking about max reports and sync stuff, thought I would have a look on the ADSL24 account
Product SYNC speed IP profile Interleaved Date
BT IPStream Max 7392 6500 Auto 13/07/2007 13:02:39
Why does it say my Sync speed is 7392? I have been at 8128 since day 1 (well when IL was turned off about a week back befirce then the expected 7616)
http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/6616/synclz4.th.jpg (http://img156.imageshack.us/my.php?image=synclz4.jpg)
As you can see from my Modem information above, Still 8128.
excuse my ignorance please but I am just wondering if everything is OK or something is wrong.
Thanks very much,
Fenn

Because 7616 is in the 7392 - 7967 range for a 6500 kbps IP profile. Your profile should have risen to 7150 kbps by now, but it looks like it's got stuck.
confused

I had this stuck at 3000, despite sync of 4576 for 5 days, logged a fault took BT about a week, All ok now profile of 4000.
Why does it say my Sync speed is 7392
Because it's true. You did have a dropout and a reconnection at 7392 even if it only lasted a few minutes. Your profile should update shortly.

Oh ****, man I thought my line was rock, thats p***** me off.
Fenn, please refrain from using swear words on the forum. There are people here who may not appreciate it :)

I've noticed that the Max reports don't show your actual sync speed though, but the start of the sync speed range for your IP profile.
I've not noticed that at all Tim and check lots of Max reports daily for support purposes

It's always been the case for my Max reports. The sync speed shown is always the start of a sync speed range for an IP profile, and isn't my actual sync speed. Have a look at mine, and you'll see what I mean.
Tim, the last few show me
5120
4000
5696
Are you saying these are not your real SYNC rates then?

My sync speed has been 6208 for 7 days, 16:49:58. You'll notice that those figures in the Max reports are always the start of the sync speed range for the corresponding IP profile.
Yeah, my most recent one is 6816.
I know I've dropped from 8096 but I didn't go that low I don't think. :|
Tim, I think it's always one behind perhaps?
E.g. On your next profile change your last SYNC will show...

The sync speed on every Max report I've had is always the start of the range for my IP profile (apart from 5000 on 07/06/2007):

Thats weird. I've only had one Max report, and that was correct.

Although 8128 is the start (and end) of the range for a 7150 profile ;).
That's true.
Odd. I'm going to have to look at the raw XML output we get from BT again and see if they have changed anything.
James
Tim, you are spot on. The SYNC speed coming from the XML output is indeed the lowest possible for that profile range. I'll get in contact with someone tomorrow.
If BT are unwilling to change we may as well do without that SYNC column as it doesn't really help at all. May as well just show the profile.

Thanks James :).
It'll be a shame if you cannot get the sync speed from BT. The BT speed test, when it works, does give the actual sync speed not the bottom of the band, so they do have the real information.
Ahh this explains why my sync 7616 is always higher than reported in Max reports...
And I've just sent a ticket about that - that will teach me to read the forums first!)
Now all I need to figure out, is why IL is still on even though MAX reports shows it as Opt O and I'll be happy, maybe even getting back to the good old 8128...
Still 8128 sync, Still 6500 IP Profile.
Well I really cannot leave my modem on 24/7 any longer, sombody else wants to use the inet and has been waiting days.

I suspect that a new Max report only gets generated when your IP profile changes, and not every time a resync occurs, so may not match your actual sync speed in any case.
That's true.
BT have been back in touch and have said the data we get is the way it's supposed to be, so we have to just live with that at the moment.
Still 8128 sync, Still 6500 IP Profile.
I had this problem when interleaving was taken off my line - which proved difficult in itself. Despite synching at 8128 my profile stubbornly refused to move from 6500. I got little satisfaction from my reseller at the time (it wasn't ADSL24) so I went direct to Enta support. They tried to tell me my line shouldn't be able to synch at 8128 at all, and it was my synch that was stuck, not my profile! :D :D :D
Anyhow, I kept badgering them and, just before I moved to ADSL24 strange things started to happen......my synch dropped progressively to 5xxx, the noise patterns on my DMT graphs were like nothing I'd ever seen before, and I started tearing my hair out. After 6 weeks of this my router resynched at 8128 and it's been fine since.
I never had an explanation from Enta but I believe BT (at some level) saw there was an oddity and put my line through a 6-week period of "retraining".
This may not be the way things go with your line, but be aware it's possible. ;)

Cheers mate, but, with my line stats I should for sure be syncing at 8128, I am 320m from my exchange with a very stable line.
I agree but it looks like you've caught a dose of what I had. Hope the remedy isn't as painful. :)

Sure I know what your saying its just they could not possibly say this to me with my line stats, they would just look like idiots, I mean I am yet to fully understand it all but people tell me this is easilly good enough for full sync.
