I need to install broadband for work and as an existing user of ADSL24, I'm leaning heavily towards this ISP but I'm concerned that by going for a basic package, the 5 Gig a month (peak time) one, that I may be limiting myself. This is for a retail outlet where the staff will be responsible for loading items on eBay but I fear they may take advantage of the wonders of the internet. I need cost effectiveness also and the ability to drop the entire thing if it doesn't work out, so one month at a time is good. By the way, is there a one-off setup fee with ADSL24 for a business line with non-existing broadband? I seem to be unable to find this on the site. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Input from business users or those experienced with this (Hello, James!) would be particularly welcome. Does any other ISP offer a better deal for business in your opinion ?

Hi, there yes there is a connection fee which BT charge us which is £45+VAT.

When you sign up, this is payed along with the first month's payment, then you can set up a DD for following months or by card if you wish. As you said, it is only a monthly contract so if it doesn't work out there's no problem with that!

As for manging your staff's internet use, maybe other business minded people can help with how to control their staff

And as to whether other ISPs offer a better deal, I can't comment, I'm bias ;)

Hi Comics

One thing you could do is use a router that will allow you to URL contect filtering, i use a Vigor 2800 which has a filter what will allow you to set a black list or a white list, if you use the white list and enter only the sites you want your staff to access the vigor will block any site that isnt on this list , the vigor also allow you to sign up with Surfcontrol this gives you more control over what categories you allow but this will cost you £45 a year, there are other routers that allow this but i do know that the Vigor works very well. Let me know if you require any screen shots and ill happily send you some.

Regards

Darrell

A lot of other routers also allow this type of filtering, so you could be really crude and block all sites except eBay (and it's many image/upload servers) etc.

When it comes to "who is the best" for broadband, that all comes down to the actualy quality of the phone line to the premises, as you could have a brilliant ISP. but if the line is poor, then you will be no better off.

Again, I'm not out to win you over, but what I can say is that if you ever have any issues at all we are always here to sort them out. As far as our network is concerned, I doubt anyone is close to Entanet's :)

Thankyou, Mark, Darrell & James for taking the time to reply. I am fortunate or unfortunate enough to have particularly clever staff, who would probably spend their time trying to get around the block settings. I will have to give them enough rope and hope for the best....they are good chaps! I believe I will go with ADSL24 for this. I need to be up and running by the first week of September but not before. Can I pre-book this so that I'm not paying for time that I'm not using the connection ? Thanks again for your informed responses.

You can choose a date for the connection of your line when you fill out the order on our website :)
