Can I point a registered domain here and use the free hosting that comes with the ADSL service through yourselves or not ?

My son has been hounding me for another domain all weekend and this morning in hospital I finally given in !. Mind you he doesn't even use the domain he's already got so this one will probably end up going the same way. Anyhow I thought I could possibly use the free hosting here, there is no-way he'll use up the disk space or bandwidth (or is this the time he proves me wrong

It would be good for him to do everything himself (design, database, forum etc) so apart from the nameservers what else do I need to do (specifically in CPanel) ? I've used CPanel before but only to manage the single domain it was all set-up for by a m8 who has his own co-hosted servers.

Now I could go with him after all he did me a great deal in the past - free hosting with, well, unlimited everything (apart from disk space which is 250mb) 'cause he knew I wouldn't use it and guess what - apart from testing things for other people I don't ;). I've yet to pay him a penny for my domain which I've had for a few years because he never asked, although now it's transferred to my own 123-reg account I'll have to start paying when it needs renewing next year.

I await your reply.

Cheers

Phil.

You can forward the domain thats not a problem or we allow customers to host the domains in place of the free sub-domain with the same space and bandwidth allowances.

Hope this helps.

Perfect, replacing the free sub-domain with my boy's new domain will be ideal. i take it I just need to raise a ticket with support ?

Yes indeed, we will then remove the old sub account and create the new domain.

We will then provde you with the DNS details to change at your registrars end and thats it.

and 123-reg nameserver change was almost instant !

Within 5 mins of changing it I could navigate to the holding page @ ADSL24. Seems that for once, a Pipex owned company (123-reg.co.uk) has been able to do something correctly. So much for the usual 24-48 hrs propagation but hey I'm not complaining cause now my son can get on & create his site (and stop bugging me)

OH OH yes give me some of that,
I think thats what I need to do, just to be sure though...

I have a domain with godaddy (2 actually 1xxx,com &1xxx.co.uk)
and I want to use the hosting provided for me by your good selves

So do I forward or replacing the free sub-domain?
not sure on the differance

I want people to be able to go to xxx.co.uk and my site to be there using the adsl24hosting.

Any advice - Have been through a few guides but got a little confused with nameservers that I cant find and what goes where

Basically, login to the Control panel where you registered your domain and change the nameservers to:

Primary: dns1.adsl24.co.uk
Secondary: dns2.adsl24.co.uk

Then, just let us know the domain name and we'll get it all set up for you.

So is the domain hosting simply a case of pointing the registrar to your dns servers and then in the CPanel setting the domain to be parked here?
