Hello, not too sure if this a problem or not! I didn't even know about it until I found the connection logs page in the "My Account" pages. It seems that my modem is disconnecting quite alot .. is this normal? Almost all the disconnects happen overnight so I've never noticed them.

My Max Status is as follows and hasn't changed since the day I was activated:

Product SYNC speed IP profile Interleaved Date
BT IPStream Max 8128 7150 Auto 13/07/2007 00:15:00

My connections log is attached as a screenshot.

Thanks in advance for any help.

EDIT: Re-attached the logs after removing my IP from them .. fool! /me runs off to check his iptables log ;-)

Just from a quick look I'm a bit confused by it too. On the 20th it managed to start a new session before the previous one had ended. Very strange!

Why not compare your router log to the log we hold of your connection history? You can access this in the My account section under 'usage reports' and 'Conn logs'

Let us know if they match up!

Not entirely sure where I can get any useful logs from. I have a D-Link 300g+ ethernet modem attached to a linux box. I have graphs of data flowing through the modem but these are just snapshots taken via snmp every 5 minutes so won't be much use for diagnosing this. The dhcp client logs on the linux box are of no use as the modem is not a bridge and so runs its own dhcp server. The modem is also rather dated and has very few options in the web interface and a somewhat cryptic telnet interface.

Any pointers are welcome!

The bottom of the page you looked at says "The above data is not intended to be 100% accurate and some bugs may exist as the data is pulled directly from our systems with no error checking."

The fact that it says many times that you started a new session while an old one was still active suggests to me that your session hasn't really ended. Maybe it has nothing to do with your end of the connection and maybe those stats are only showing the connection between servers within adsl24 or entanet.

Personally, I don't think you have anything to worry about. Where there is a gap it is for only a few seconds and isn't doing anything to your profile. If you start noticing disconnections, not just a log of them, then I might start to worry about it

Fair enough, thanks for that. I'll forget about it for the time being. I was planning to upgrade my modem to something like a DrayTek Vigor 100 or Linksys AM200 in the next few months so I'll check back after that and see if there's any change.

Cheers.

The connection is log is just that. It doesn't mean your line is dropping - just that the actual PPP session from your modem you enta's RADIUS servers are re-connecting - there would be no loss of service :)

For anyone interested ... the PPP session disconnections were obviously being caused by my rubbish old modem. Upgraded to a Linksys AM200 and no PPP disconnections since installing it. :)
