View Full Version : How long between disconnects?
I get disconnects a few times a day, is that normal? ST546v6, version 6.14 or something like that.
I have to use the master/test socket since my home wiring is so rubbish, but here are my stats since the most recent dc (always happens at 2200 or so as well):

I am using the test socket and getting the DCs, I don't think this will help will it? Also, every socket in the house has the correct two wires only wired up right (but still suck, so not using them).
Ok
sorry I can`t help further
By saying your other sockets 'suck' what do you mean by that, what exactly is wrong with them?
Well, yet another disconnect today (even my test socket is no good?).
My other extensions have tons of crc errors and lose sync even more, and they connect at like 50% of the speed of the test socket.
If you have lots of dropouts in the test socket it's either:
- Duff filter
- Duff RJ11 cable
- Duff router
- BT line issue/line card problem (most likely)

OK, so guess I should open a ticket? The modem even loses the PPPoA link sometimes, but not the DSL one (usually the DSL one though).
EDIT: Yeah still going down, was down for ages just after 2200 as well now. :( Line stats seem ok though, rather odd for this to happen isn't it?
Well I am still having these problems... Any reason they seem to happen most frequently near 1800? It does this 5-10 minute disconnect session where the modem syncs, then loses sync after exactly 20s...repeat for a while until it magically sticks.
Sorry annoying, I've not had a usable connection since I got turned on, but it's cost a lot of £.
If its happening at certain times, could well be some type of local interference entering your line system
6pm, lot of people get home from work, could be someones thermostat for a heater or washing
Just an idea
I have a new build and all, and I know in my own flat (4 in this building) nothing is going on at 1800. Quite coincidental for sure. :( Sure is frustrating, it has now happened a few times since 1750 and 1820 today alone.

Have you created a ticket so that ADSL24 can report your problem to BT?
Have you created a ticket so that ADSL24 can report your problem to BT?
I emailed support and James said he logged it with BT as an intermittent fault (yesterday morning). Nothing in my tickets though, I suppose that is separate from emails? How long does BT take to check into line issues? (edit: Bah so many DCs tonight, even since I posted this.)
I do notice if I look at router stats around the time of the errors, the SNR is like 6.0 or 6.5. It's 8.5 now... wtf causes it to get so noisy? When it is like 6.x I get crc errors as well, but get zero when I'm higher. Nothing changing in my home or my neighbours when this happens. Oddly, the girl in the flat below me has BT and her router never goes down and has had sync for like 14 days now.
Bt take around 48hrs to do tests etc and if nothing is found we can arrange an appointment.
Well, hope they do their tests. ;)
I got a 2Wire 2700 installed and it seems to lose sync less often, but it is still happening even with the better SNR on the 2wire.
BT advise that their diagnostics have shown no fault and if we wish them to investigate further we will need to book a Customer Service Engineer (CSE) to visit the customer site. They advise that charges may be incurred if the fault lies with the customer's equipment/wiring. Can you please advise us at your earliest convenience on the preferred visit time of the engineer; either: Morning Slot (0800 - 1300) or Afternoon Slot (1300 - 1800).
Thank you, James.
I will ask the landlord, then. Here are some stats from the 2wire since I have been at work today. Anything suspect here? It looks like it has disconnected even while I was at work, doesn't it?

Hrm, I am noticing even on the 2wire I get to SNR of 6.0 in the evenings here. It just manages to hold sync better somehow. No one else is even awake in any of the flats in my building, so wonder where this noise comes from at night.
