Vista folders and display images

Hello, I am Running Vista premium on my Acer laptop - all is well but have come across an annoying folder issue. In 'my pictures', 'my music' etc I have customised each folder (through 'properties') to display a specific image, simple job and all looks well. The problem I have come across is that every so often a folder image will change (with no help from me) and will display a random image from another folder on my system. No idea how this is happening - anyone else come across this?

I hope this makes sense, I am talking about the images that look like sheets of paper that dispaly to look like an open folder.

Any help appreciated - thought I would try and sort this problem while I have some down time with my connection. Hopefully, with ADSL24 next Monday.

Could be a bug in Vista or maybe icon cache needs flushing?

I'm not a "techie" so could be talking rubbish - but I use TuneUp Utilities and it has the option to delete and repair the icon cache - worked for me when my recycle bin refused to show itself empty on XP. Probably a way to do it manually if you Google it - may even find others with a similar issue.

I had similar problems with my customised folders in Vista and found it was down to Vista not "remembering" settings correctly.

Requires a bit of careful Registry editing if you're up to that and it does work in Vistas 32bit versions as well as Vista 64bit. I followed all the steps in the post and now Vista keeps all my views as I want them.
