View Full Version : Lowering SNR target?

Hi guys,

I was wondering if there's a way I can force my target SNR BT's side to be lower? Mine seems to be set at 16dB, and I'd like it a bit lower so I can (hopefully) squeeze a bit more out of the line.

I've used the DMT tool with my router in the past, the the older firmwares for my ST585 were too problematic for me, and the new firmwares don't support the feature.

I'm currently syncing at 3.5-3.8 with a downstream loss of 49dB, and my connection usually stays up for about 7 days or so.

Cheers

Your target SNR is supposed to be automatically reduced if your line remains stable for 14 days, but unfortunately this doesn't always happen. ADSL24 can ask BT to reduce the target SNR, but BT often ignore these requests, and a lot of persistence is required.

BT almost certainly will not change it for the ISP as it's not in their interest.

Cheers, what's the definition of 'stable'? And is there nothing I can do my end?

AIUI, it's if your sync speed remains roughly the same.
