View Full Version : Terrible Speed?!
I'm new to adsl24 and, as the crow flies, i am less than 500 metres away from the exchange. However I am only receiving test results of 840k download speeds and 27k uploads! I am connected through an adsl2+ router on an 8meg connection. PLEASE HELP!
can you do a bt speedtest mate and post the results

Can you also post the line stats from your router please?
IP profile for your line is - 7150 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 8128 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 810 kbps
How do i check the line stats from the router?
Probably just BT tester is rubbish?
Same profile for me and similar results:

Try the tester at http://www.speedtest.net, although Entanet is bad on weekends regardless:

Are you on wireless or ethernet? Tried any other PC's/routers? No other downloading/uploading going on in background?
Using wireless connection to my pc and it cant be moved to try wiring to the ethernet, tried a laptop also but no different. Signal strength is excellent and a colleague of mine with adsl24, who is further from the exchange, says he receives download speeds of over 500k, I never seem to get above 40k.
So have you tried using a laptop on ethernet? There is certainly something wrong with the connection as you should be seeing speeds of up to 6500 kbps.

And you need to eleminate the possibility of a wiring problem in your house cuaisng the issues.
Is the router connected to the master socket? If it's a modern cocket have you tried pluggin it into the internal test socket?
