Hi i have been with adsl24 since january (speeds have been good), but why are the pipe lines only showing 2/3mb top speed and most are showing green???. I know its the weekend but its not normaly this bad. Are they having problems??. I normaly get about 4/5mb:D but im only getting 1700kbps:(

Yeah speeds have been rubbish this weekend. :( I've very rarely got above 2Meg speeds all weekend. That's never happened before.

Has some new game or something been released?

Nah don't think so, just too many users at peak times now it seems. :( I hate to imagine what next weekend will be like with another week of new Entanet customers added.

Time for Enta to increase capacity now? It's beginning to look that way! :(

I've just done a BT Speedtest. :(

IP profile for your line is - 4500 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 5728 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1129 kbps

Exact same thing for me wfnuk. :( Completely awful this weekend.

Can somebody please correct me if my thinking is flawed but, as the central load-balancing seems to be working quite well (at least according to the EntaTools Centrals Report), then surely the current slow speeds must surely be down to nothing more than insufficient capacity?

New game has been released, a 13Gb iso and a few other games

This thread makes me laugh, you all jumped at the 300GB allowance and now you are moaning because you cannot get decent speeds.
I was seriously thinking of migrating but the off peak slow down and the reports of ping issues have made me think again.
I will keep an eye on the forums to see if things improve but my guess is more and more people will be attracted by the 300GB lure and speeds will get worse not better.

The 300 GB off peak allowance had basically nothing to do with me migrating to ADSL24. It was the reasonable price and the excellent customer service.

stranglehold is 12gb and not worth the bandwidth lol
but i've gotta agree that the pipes really are taking a hammering off peak which surely is a sign of not enough bandwidth, i don't mind as long as it does'nt affect my ping which as of yet it has'nt

As James said if you schedule your downloads for a staggered period then everyone would see better performance.

Remember your sharing the line. The weekend is a busy time as it is offpeak all hours so everyone thinks they can just download when they choose. Correct you can but expect speeds to be slower than normal as you are doing the same thing everyone else is!

Of course there will be those that sit with a list of 3 torrents at all times and or FTP's/newsgroups and have the mentality of "If I have it I will use it."

You can thank those people especially for the slightly slower speeds. I have no doubt those people are here in fairly good numbers a little bit of consideration from them will be nice. Sadly heavy downloaders tend to be the ones that also don't give a fig about everyone else.

As I mentioned in another thread, the Fall (Autumn to you and me) TV season has just started in the US, so all the popular shows, The Simpsons, Family Guy, Battlestar, Stargate, etc all have new series starting.

The Torrent fans are going to be in download heaven for the next few months...

Thats the problem

Entanet is now P2P heaven, but heads up to steve and his team for the speed capping, to stop packet loss, I went to use my mates Bt Internet connection at his flat near my uni, and from 6.30 onwards the packet loss was amazing

:)

Love entanet

Came across this on the Thinkbroadband forums. http://bbs.adslguide.org.uk/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Board=entanet&Number=3128799&page=0&view=expanded&sb=5&o=0

Anyway I just asked BT to turn up the next 155Mb segment on Friday, so that should make the problem go away for a while longer.

That leaves us with 6 * 155Mb segments to last until central 7 gets here around the beginning of February and at about 1 every 3-4 weeks we should be OK. We will also have the first few exchanges of the 21cn roll out by then.

Well done

Cant be easy, with the groing reputation, bang goes the usage, ppl running their 300gb limit to 286gb,

Thanks for getting back to us.

Maybe if a few people leave here and there for llu or because they are miserable, things may calm down, altho with this mass migrations, i expect your job is a little busy at the moment

It was a concern of mine, migrating to here that once ADSL24 became more popular, the service would deteriorate to an unacceptable level. I hope that isn't going to happen as there aren't too many other choices left nowadays

In that case you wont be bitching about the slow off peak speeds as you will be getting your downloads at great speed in the peak period. ;)

I download whenever the need arises, I don't sit waiting & watching the clock.

Same here.

I'm noticing a strange hostility from some quarters here when anyone voices any sort of criticism of poor service which is not how I was led to believe it would be with ADSL24. So far their service is sub-F2S levels.

depends on your definition of poor service ;) that is what people moan about is others claiming poor service because they have to share bandwidth with the rest of the world and dont get a full 8 mb all day everyday.

Genuine problems (disconnections, speed less then 1mb, three week response to queries) nobody minds hearing about (only because then we can solve your problems).

too many moan about things that are not large issues.

Funny, I haven't heard anyone complaining they don't get 'full 8Mb all day every day' - nice straw man though :)

We aren't all wet behind the ears about how ADSL works, some of us have come from from the same product (MAX) on other ISPs like Freedom 2 Surf and are experiencing worse service here.

service levels are strange things mine from f2s to here is much better yet i know others (including yourself) are getting worse despite the fact physically nothing much has changed.

believe it or not run through some of the threads and you will see people moaning about things that are really just part of how it all works. some of the ex f2sers and others who have been here longer do seem to have the most incredible knowledge about how the tech works :) me i know about money and thats about it.

Maybe it is all us ex F2S'ers that are causing the probs ;)

Hope not. I've had an up and down service so far, but at least some of it has been due to my router. The rest, evenings and weekends for the last 2 weeks have been slow, but even so, the overall service has been much better than f2s.
