Hi

What would you say is the most accurate speed tester around. I get very different results with different testers.

Cheers

You have to stick with the same one all the time really. I just use this oldie it gives me a pretty good result.

cant remember the addy, but i'll try and find it, but there is one on a BT server, you have to login to it from your router... cant access any other url's but the speed test...

as it is just one hop away, it gives the most accurate test of what your setup is capable of

yup - i like this one too. Seems to reflect real life NNTP downloads from newshosting IMO.

You don't have to faff around with changing router login details now, you do it via the webpage.

It's the one I use mostly (when I bother), it ought tobe the most accurate reflection of what your connection is giving you.

But I find them all a bit variable really, and tend to only take the results with a decent amount of salt. Useful for seeing if generally you connection is fastish or slowish, but don't get to hung up on the details. 500 kbps even 1000 kbps difference seems to here nor there.

I generally steer clear of speedtest.net because a lot of the time it gives frankly bizarre results for me.
