Is it sending or receiving email that you're having problems with?

James

Not had any other reports - can you give us more details?

I think I have the same problem. Emails are going out but out of 4 sent to myself I have only recieved 1. Also I had no emails when I logged on this morning which is strange as I usually have some even if they are only spam . Just thought I ought to report anyway

Here's another report.
My grandaughter phoned to say that an email was on its way for me to print an attachement.
30mins and counting

Edit - another phone call, this time from 'angry wife' "why havn't I replied to her email of 9.30 from work this morning.

Just sent one to myself at adsl24 from googlemail and it's arrived ok

Correction & clarification :
The one which arrived, I sent to an address which auto-forwards to another (non-adsl24) address.
Just sent another one to a non-forwarding address and it hasn't arrived.

Does all that help or confuse?!

Just checked myself, e-mailed to my ADSL24 mail account from my GMail, not receiving any e-mails either...

It doesn't report any errors, acts as normal as if it's fine - just doesn't receive any email... GMail sent the email fine, no errors reported.. Did it all within the Mozilla Thunderbird mail client by the way.

EDIT: Just as a note, sending emails works fine!

Have you checked your email quota?

I find that if I exceed my quota, no errors are reported, but mail doesn't get through to me at my POP3 account, however you can usually read it fine via webmail.

Increase your mailbox quota or delete old stuff to free up some space to get around this problem.

I do have intermittent email problems when there are error messages, it usually rights itself within a few hours. However I now forward all email to my personal domain to a Googlemail account in addition to the ADSL24 one.

Since midnight last night. Should have had usage report (daily) first thing this morning and a cousin sent me email at 0830 this morning and phoned to warn me. Nothing has arrived. A test to myself within my own accounts worked but that means nothing.

No e-mails in any of my accounts.. None stored on the server/webmail or in clients.. Completely empty. All 4 email accounts have an 'unlimited' quota. But still using nothing all of us, except 1 which is using a whole 43Kb!

Can send from ADSL24 email account, but not receive. Tested from various other email accounts; GMail, Hotmail, etc...

Reports no errors when receiving, but you don't actually receive 'anything'...

Mikeyk, normally I'd agree but the problem seems to be so widespread I doubt we've all got quota problems - I know I haven't ;)

Same problem here :( If I send a test email from my adsl24 account to myself it arrives ok. If I send one from my hotmail account to myself it just disappears into the ether and doesn't arrive.

Sent a message to my ADSL24 account about 25 minutes ago from my GMail account - hasn't arrived yet.

Add me to the list! ;-)

Just sent an email from one ADSL24 account to another and that arrived okay.

Guess it's to do with external mail then.

Having the same problem here James. After my thread on the Blacklist, I thought I tweaked something. I can send myself test emails from my ADSL24 account and can receive those,

I sent one from my AOL account and it has not arrived.

Again, did I tweak something?

I just tried sending myself an email using telnet, and got the following after entering the message:

451 Temporary local problem - please try later

I wonder if it helps to distinguish between the two servers. Mine is accessing Pluto server ok but is not finding anything. Using webmail or OE makes no difference. HOWEVER, sneding mail seems to be ok. Just sent a test message from adsl24 to my googlemail a/c and it arrived instantly. Raising a ticket now because they just don't seem to be aware!

A bit more extensive testing and I've found it's just a non-local problem. To provide an example, let's say my account name is 'sparxy'.

What works..
Send e-mail from 'name1@sparxy.adsl24.co.uk' to 'name2@sparxy.adsl24.co.uk'
Sending and receiving works fine both ways there.

Sending e-mail from 'name1/2@sparxy.adsl24.co.uk' works.

What doesn't work...
Access 'name1/2@sparxy.adsl24.co.uk', on attempt to receive email from 'user@gmail.com' or 'user@hotmail.com' or any other email network outside of ADSL24 - Fail.

Hope that helps.. So basically can send emails fine, but you can't receive emails from anywhere but within the ADSL24 email network.

Tut tut, double post in a minute. Could've just edited your original. :D

But on a more serious note, what exactly was the problem then? Was it some mail routing issue or something?

tonys
06/10/2007, 16:53
No problem

James, I sent a test message to one of my domain addresses at 1pm and there's still no sign of it. Another one I sent to the same address about 5mins ago appeared almost instantly. Just wondering if any other mail sent to domains (instead of adsl24 direct) has gone awol?

I just received the test message from my GMail and Hotmail account that I sent earlier this afternoon, so that works ok...

P.S. 300th post! :)

Hang on, don't panic! Looks like the backlog is still clearing, but priority is being given to new mails. I've just received another earlier one.

James

Correct. Some may still appear up to 24hrs later due to the way delays work.
