How do I know if I have a good connection or not since interleaving has been on I have seen my speed dropped from 6.3 to 4.5mb will I be better to switch Auto interleaving off.

I am going off line now but will log in tomorrow to see what opinions are made thanks.

some people get a small increase in speed by turning interleaving off but i would'nt think that it would put you back up to 6.5mb, did you request it be turned on?

No it was on upon joining adsl in February and stayed at sync speed of 7392 and didnt alter until July and ever since July it has altered up and down sometimes 3 times a day???

Just now seems to be quite eratic in changing.

Well, you can always try and see, it's easy enough to change it back if not.

However, if the connection/line is a bit dodgy then autoleaving off can make things worse speed wise, then main benefit with interleaving off is it reduces the ping times.

If the sync speed is changing a lot as you describe then I'd be looking elsewhere for the problem - sounds liek some sort of lien problem - either internally to your house or on the BT netwrok.

Being interleaved won't have caused that drop in speed. In any event, you says it's at 'Auto' - that means it will only kick in if necessary. As Gargoyle said, your real problem may lie elsewhere.

OK so should I be contacting BT to ask if the line is at fault, as nothing has changed here in my pc connection wise.

If it's still the same speed in the test socket, it could be that BT have increased the SNR margin to give the line more stability, this would reduce the SYNC rate.

Whats your full line stats?

Er James whats the full line stats. Dont forget I'm the adsl24 nightmare and not too gemmed up on all tech stuff.
Please be patient............ok where do I find this full line stats please, I dont have a router its a sagem moden. Thank you

Hi James is this what you want

Margin 15dB Attenuation 20dB

Thats it yes.

This is the problem then. BT have increased your Margin to 15dB which gives you much better stability but will lower the SNYC speed. You really should get a router as this will help aid the line get back to normal, and plus you could tweak it yourself.

Even a Speedtouch 510v6 will do the trick for around a tenner @ www.dsldepot.co.uk
