Have received my username and password for the migration connection, I'm ok with that no problems.
But which is my email address.
I have received email from sales with all the details, now does my email address look like this
(name)@adsl24.co.uk is that the one, not the username for mirgration.
thanks.:)

Your email address will be anything@username.adsl24.co.uk.

You need to look further down the email under the heading ...
Your Free Adsl24 Free Hosting And Email Details
Your email should be in the format of (name)@(account).adsl24.co.uk
The (account) will be whatever name you chose when you signed up, and also the same name as your login, and the (name) part can be whatever you choose ... if you manage to follow all that :)

Ah right think I may have it now, didnt realise that will have to make (name) very short indeed if not my email address will run off the page.
Need to set up outlook express with this account as soon as I have migrated over.

I don't know if there's any way to change your account name once it's all set up .... Brian???

Hey Hey:) Woman thing indeed.
Just wanted it simple, as username I thought that would be my email addy, so had my full name there, didnt realise you would to have another name or something to put in front of it.
Even more confusing to do OE cos you will have a different entry for username and then account name will be different I assume.

I think we're going to have sort these blokes out Racey ;)
This started as a short note...
If I have this right:
You are provided with a default email address of "adsl24username@adsl24username.adsl.co.uk". You can change whether this is a catchall or not (later - when you want) in the ADSL24 cPanel on the website home page (- Mail).
If you login using the ADSL24 Webmail cPanel on the website homepage with just your adsl24username and not a full "@" email address you get to this default account.
You can create a new email address of "fred@adsl24username.adsl24.co.uk" in the ADSL24 cPanel (- Mail - Add/ ) Then use "fred@adsl24username.adsl24.co.uk" to login on the ADSL24 Webmail cPanel to see your "fred" mail or when setting up your account in Outlook or whatever email-client you use.
Note that when you setup your email client for this "fred" address you will enter the both incoming and outgoing server name as "mail.adsl24username.adsl.co.uk" and the login name as "fred+adsl24username.adsl24.co.uk". And your ADSL24 password. You will need to opt for Secure Authentination and use your fred+adsl24username.adsl24.co.uk and your ADSL24 password (again) to setup the login details for the authenticated outgoing server option which is separate from the server name already mentioned.
As usual it is easier to do than to read!
Oi, you, you're getting as bad as some of the others here! :D
Ooooooh, touchy, aren't we? :D
Wimmin are o.k. at times, let's leave it at that. :D :D :D
(not often, of course).
Ircsum.
Also I reckon that:
You can't change your ADSL24 username or your Entanet username (=same)
You can't change your Entanet password but you can change your ADSL24 password - which is needed for your ADSL24 email account - so if you intend to change it, perhaps do that before setting up your email so you don't have to go back and change your settings.

Youv'e lost me pcorker totally:)
They can be changed but from the email and hosting side of things it means a delete of your old hosting account and creating a new one in its place with the new username.
Regarding the login name yes that can be changed but that means a email to Entanet.
Amyway, lots of work just over a name.
Regards,
You are already provided with a default address and you have to create a new one (or use the default)
Reading through my post is horrible but doing it all step by step it will make sense! (once you have finished!)
Took me a while to suss it out!
Go to the ADSL24 webmail link on the website home page and login using just your username and password (not an email address like it suggests!)

Hey Hey:) Woman thing indeed.
Sorry raceylady, that was directed at someone else around here ;).
I did just edit my original long post by cutting out the bit about the blank username box as this referred to setting up the Entanet mail account which is something completely separate - sorry I am error prone!

think I will just call myself (me) @ (account) adsl.co.uk
two letters is enough is it not.:D
I expect that you are happily tapping out emails now but if you need help in getting OE to work I put a guide in the "Tips and Tricks" section - You could see if I got it right!

Yes pcorker will be setting up oe as my original tiscali email is there, which of course will be deleted.
Just not sure what to put in the pop servers box. Will look at your tips.
would be much simpler just to have an addy (name) @ adsl.co.uk
If tiscali was your primary email address you should be able to receive incoming mail for a few weeks’ or months depends if they play fair.
Just once you migrate away you won’t be able to send via the tiscali mail server.
One reason to use a gmail account its with you for life..

Yes indeed why can we not just have (name) @ adsl.co.uk.
To me it just seems a little long winded with (name) @myname.adsl.co.uk.
Also it is a little frustrating not having any say as to what my domain i called
The reason we don't allow (name)@adsl24.co.uk is the fact that we offer unlimited e-mail addresses.
When we add your account, the webspace is automatically www.(name).adsl24.co.uk - therefore that is your domain. This means that if (name).adsl24.co.uk is yours, e-mail has to be (you)@(name).adsl24.co.uk as thats your own account.
If we let everyone have just (name)@adsl24.co.uk then there would be too many names taken.
How we have it now is so:
You can have (anything)@(name).adsl24.co.uk but not (anything)@adsl24.co.uk as (anything) will be already taken. Having your own subdomain means no-one can ever have what you want. So everyone is unique :)
If that makes sense...

It all makes perfect sense it just seems so long! this is the first ISP I have been with that have adopted this strategy.
I would have been happy (any name unique to me)@adsl24.co.uk and if I wanted anything more unique than that I would have had to then use (my name)@(the domain i choose).co.uk
I just wish i had known the implications to my choice of user name when I signed up I would have chosen more wisely.
It would be nice if I could add a domain but I am not permitted
Darren. Your username is not static. If you wish, we can change it for you no problem!
Just let us know.
We will let you host your own domain on your free webspace too, just let us know the domain name and we'll make it point to your free webspace.
