DSLD Depot seem to act as some sort of clearance outlet for routers and stuff. below is an example:

Thomson SpeedTouch 716g for £ 29 total incl VAT & delivery.
It has VoIP and Firewall and the wireless side is 802.11G (54 Mbps)

Not sure if it is the version of 716g with ADSL2 and ADSL2+ capability?!

They sell B-Grade, discontinued and refurbished equipment - I haven't heard anything bad from those who've bought from them.

Yeah...I got an ST585 (v6) from there some time back. Looked brand new, the box was squashed a bit but otherwise it was sound.

Unfortunately, DSL Depot messed up my order for a SpeedTouch 716g that I placed with them well over a week ago. Their email addy has not been working for a long time and they take a long time to reply on their 0870 number. After many phone calls, being kept on hold for as long 8 minutes and after getting various excuses, I gave up and cancelled the order. Found a 780WL from eBay. £12 more than the obsolete 716g at DSL Depot but a current model with better spec and features.

Many bargains at auction sites but be careful. Make sure to check feedback ratings. Don't rely on, often skimpy, descriptions. Ask detailed questions. Decide on a fair price and don't get carried away with the bidding fever.

Yep - the 716g is an old and discontinued router. It was very quickly taken over by the 716WL.

I used them for a refurbished Speedtouch 585v6. Good service.

I just ordered a Speedtouch ST510 4-port wired router from DSLDepot to replace or backup my old Origo ASR-8400. Ordered a v3.7 but they delivered a newer v4.2.7 complete with setup guide, installation CD, two good quality ADSL filters, RJ-11 and RJ-45 cables. £6.98 including delivery. The router arrived within two working days. Worked perfectly straight out of the box - only had to enter my ADSL24 username and password. My IP profile is 7150 kbps. This morning I had a Speedtest.net result of 7158 kb/s down, 383 kb/s up. What more could you ask for with change out of £7? :)

Yep, so did I. Very fast delivery. Everything looked brand new - just a corner of the box was a bit squashed. Everything works fine.

Cheers

Is there any way of ensuring b grade goods. I'd personally rather have a scratched casing than someones iffy resoldering (no offence meant). I was thinking of the wireless one that James recommends.

No, probably 30 days warranty if b-grade. But to be honest, if it's a dud router, 30 days should be enough time to realise it's naff :)

30 days warranty only according to their terms & conditions:

thanks for info.
im a complete numpty at this so please bear with me.
im thinking of upgrading my trusty speedtouch 330 USB speedtouch modem and buy new modem/router but unsure about wireless.
i;ve read in the forums that adsl24 recommend speedtouch routers.
do speedtouch allow their wireless facility to be turned off if not needed. ( buying 2nd pc in the next few months)
i currently have broadband and i use single pc, but may need 2nd pc so would i need to get wireless?
my pc has SIS 900 based pci fast ethernet adapter and m/b is Asrock K7S41GX.
should i go for wireless? can this be turned off if i dont need it. what security issues may arise with wireless if any?
any help appreciated
cheers

I think you would get quicker answers if you posted your technical questions in the Hardware or Sales and Support areas too. People seem to visit those forums more often.

All the best,

Yes, you can turn on/off the wireless on the router. You should use the router with an ethernet cable to your PC. That will be more reliable and faster.
