View Full Version : Entanet E-Mail or ADSL24 E-Mail?

I'm a bit confused. When I first called ADSL24 I asked about the rather long convoluted e-mail addresses, i.e 'name@name.adsl24.co.uk', and I was told the only way around this was to host my own domain. This is not entirely accurate as I've discovered that I have the option of using entanet mail addresses which are a slight improvement, i.e 'name@name.entadsl.com'. I notice that others have posted a similar question.

Can I get, from the users out there, some help and a poll:

1) What are the pros / cons of using adsl24 or entanet directly for e-mail? (If any...)

2) What are most, particularly experienced users doing - enta or adsl24?

Thanks.

And hmmm...further to the above...any advice on obtaining one's own domain? Thanks.

You really need 2 other options in the poll: Both & Neither. ;)

I use both so I can't vote! :)

Poll has been modified, I see, so I've voted. However, someone needs to fix the 'Edit' button pretty smartly as it links to 'Report Post'.

Adsl24's email has both spam and virus filtering, which AFAIK Entanet's does not, and you have a choice of Horde or SquirrelMail for webmail access. I'm using Adsl24's email with my own domain name. You can buy a domain name from 1&1 (http://www.1and1.co.uk/).

Thanks Tim. I've bought a domain from 1&1 this morning. Waiting for that to go through. I then plan to raise a ticket and get Brian to host it for me. Not sure how long I'll have to wait on the registration - any idea, in your experience...?

Edit: How do I put the 'My Mood' thingy in...?

Hi Jem,

The registration of your domain shouldn't take very long, it'll probably be done within 24 to 48 hours.

You can change your mood in the box at the top right of the page, just above the orange menu bar.

If you look at the top right where it says Good Morning, Jem and under the time/date and private messages there's a selection box to choose your mood :)
