I can access the information about which Central Pipe I am currently in but could I change my broadband connection from one Central Pipe to another, say to the less busy pipe?? Of course if every user is doing the same thing then eventually there will be NO less busy pipe left!

Just restart your router and that should do it.

Depending on the router, you may have an option to disconnect and reconnect the PPP Session rather than reboot the router. Constant reboots may cause RAMBO to think your line is "flapping" and will cause your target SNR to be raised and your synch speed to be lowered.

If you can disconnect and reconnect without the synch dropping, that is the way to go.

Yes, I get it! I have a Speedtouch ST585 which I believe may have both Broadband and Internet Disconnect-Buttons. I will try to give the "Internet Disconnect-Button" a go to see if my broadband connection would change to another pipe!
Thanks

Yes, it works!!
I have disconnected my "Internet Session" for about 20 seconds and re-connected it again. I could see my Central Pipe allocation has been changed to another pipe then! However if I do "swiftly" disconnect and connect my "Internet" then my allocated Central Pipe remains the same. Is there a way that you can "specify" which Central Pipe that you could be changed to???

Thanks

If there was, then everyone would be doing it and there'd be no reason to move anyway. It's the fact that the whole thing is random that makes some people constantly disconnect and reconnect until they hit the central they're after.

I tried this & time i'd reconnected then viewed the centrals i was back on another dying pipe & the one i came off had gone green :)

Think of the problems that would cause - lost of people would be endlessly jumping from central to central to the oen they though was 'best'.

what is required is for BT to introduce a decent load balancing system for the centrals
