For some reason the contents (3 messages) of my inbox have disappeared. Anyone got any ideas?

Which inbox? ... and which email client are you using?

Pardon! The adsl24.co.uk email inbox. It doesn't seem to matter, I can either use Horde or Squirrel. I am beginning to think this adsl is too advanced for me.
I didn't have to bother with Email clients when I was with Wanadoo, granted I did have to speak Urdu and the speed wasn't 1/2 as good.

I assume you've checked that they're not in the Trash folder. Are you just using Webmail to read your messages, or do you use an email client like Outlook Express to read them as well?
You possibly have 2 inboxes. In the Adsl24 WebMail (envelope icon) link on the ADSL24 website home page enter your username (chosen when you signed up) ONLY (and password) and you get to your default inbox OR if you enter the full address of the email address that you created eg fred@username.adsl24.co.uk (and password) you get that inbox. Probably ...
... or once you have used, say, Outlook Express to collect the emails they will be removed from the web mail inbox (unless you tell OE to leave them there - in the "Advanced" settings tab for that account's properties)
