View Full Version : What are the adsl24 mailbox settings?
Well just one day to go and I can't wait, so I would like to set up my new email account for Thunderbird. I just want to be sure I have the correct syntax for the mailbox.
incoming mail: pop3.adsl24.co.uk???
Outgoing mail: smtp.adsl24.co.uk???
Is this correct?
Thanks

From looking at the email Brian sent it says you need to use the following settings ...
Incoming Mail Server: mail.*********.adsl24.co.uk
Outgoing Mail Server: mail.*********.adsl24.co.uk (server requires authentication)
The ****** would be your username.
Thanks surfer chick. I don't have that information as yet so thats why I asked.
I take it that you got it before me then:-)

Oh, of course, you're waiting to be migrated in aren't you. Sorry not had enough caffiene yet to wake up properly lol ;)
Yes, those are the settings you will be using which will all be set out in the email Brian sends you before your migration takes place :)
I am supposed to be activated tomorrow sometime, well not me, my connection I mean:)

Have you got your login details yet?? otherwise you'll be stumped
I recived an email from adsl24 giving me my username and password last week.
The email was titled 'Adsl24 login details' so yes I must have them
Its specific to each customer and would look like: username.adsl24.co.uk for incoming and outgoing.
If only customers would log into the cPanel, make a email address and the last page will give them all the details they need.
Its easy, simple and not hard work or taxing, all it takes is a bit of time and once its done, then the next email address is even simplier.
Regards,

Brian, what it is with me is that for many years I have been so used to having to use pop or pop3 for incoming mail, and smtp for outgoung mail and I can't get it out of my head just yet! so not having to put pop etc in front of whatever looks odd to me.
Thanks

I'm in the same boat as you AORman, I also have to enter the pop and smtp before entering the server name. Got me somewhat confused as well.
I have my settings for OE but not sure if I have to enter pop.mail. (name).adsl24.couk in the relevant boxes or indeed is it just mail.(name). adsl24.co.uk.:)
It's because your ADSL24 email is authenticated so you can use SMTP (eg Outlook) down any phone line (eg when away from home with a laptop) Also you have to SET UP your own address before you can USE it (The automatic default or Main address is "hidden" from senders)
raceylady did you glance at (click) (http://www.pat100.entadsl.com/OEsetup)

Yes I did pcorker thank you.
I have just set up my OE using the tutorial, and the server authentication bit, I just clicked that box. Sent an email to myself and have just recieved it I think anway. Its slightly confusing as my tiscali addy is still active as is indeed my BB until my migration day.
But I think its worked.
And I also received my read receipt as well, so fingers crossed. I can advise others of my new addy.

Yea I've dont it, get the blasted fireworks out. I've at last done something right I dont believe it.
Brilliant.
mmm, I'm not just getting it right somehow!
I have followed this link http://www.adsl24.co.uk/forum/showpost.php?p=3367&postcount=3 to set up Thunderbird
Then I looked on the mail settings in cPanel to check username and other settings, then I sent myself an email through adsl24 mail server, but I am getting bad username or password.
I know its something simple!!!
Thanks
Sorted! Silly me put wrong password in for my email account, doh!
