I am wanting to add a PCI-E video card to my system after rebuilding it all a month or so ago. A freind tells me the ATI XT1900 is a good card and on ebay at around £70 second hand seems like a good price. Just wondered what new ATI cards are the equivalent or the next peg up to the XT1900 series, there are so many models
cheers

Depends on how much you want to spend really! I personally would go for a Nvidia card as they seem to be the leading force in Graphic card making at the moment, i used to be an avid ATI fan but they've lost the race with Nvidia at the moment. I'm using a 8800GTS 320MB at the moment and i'm very impressed with it, run's all the latest games fine.
Check out here for the latest cards and some very competitive prices.

I've gone off Nvidia since an unwillingness to fix an important issue with the drivers they've known about for ages (over year now I guess).
I have dual head 6200 card (not a gamer, don't need anything fancy), the secondary output being primarily used to feed a monitor used for watching video displayed full screen. If I use the current 9.x drivers the aspect ratio for the output video are wrong - eg. 16:9 video being stretched vertically on a 4:3 monitor.
It's fine with 8.x drivers, but Nvidia seem to have decided for whatever reason not to sort it out with the later drivers. not really problem for me so far, but if I was gamer it might be if there we issues with some games.

Before my head exploded I bought a s/h, ATI X1900 XT (512mb), £75. Here's hoping it runs my MotoGp3 :-)

Yeah there good enough cards from what i've read, they'll run DX9 games just fine, should have no problem with your MotoGp 3:D

If it runs thats, Im happy, I had it running great with my Barton system and an AGP card (9600 pro I think) , but since upgrading to AMD x2 I have not got it sorted out, its the only game I own and play and it looks 'orrible with the onboard vid with settings turned down ;-)

Yeah i had a 9600XT at one point and i was impressed by it! But since switching to Quad core i've gone down the Nvidia route and dont't think i'd go back to ATI unless they come up with a cracker of a card.

have you tried playing crysis on it?
A freind tells me the ATI XT1900 is a good card and on ebay at around £70 second hand seems like a good price. I would err on the side of caution before considering buying a second-hand high-end card off eBay. A lot of 'overclockable' cards for sale on there have been thrashed to within an inch of their lives and, as several of my friends can testify, have proven to be most unreliable in the long term. Buyer beware! :(

Yeah i have Crysis and it runs fine with my 8800GTS, my resolution is 1680x1050 and i have Crysis on medium and it runs perfect, Granted i've tried bumping everything up to high but things start getting jumpy after that, but the game looks gorgeous on medium anyway.

MotoGP3 runs perfect with everything up full, lucky my mate had a spare DVI to DSUB connector and an ATI Power lead spare as the plumb who sold me the card did not send them, thanks for all the help folks ;)
