Hi Everyone, new member so bear with me if all goes pearshaped!

Migrated here from Virgin snailpace on 19th October, and allthough the speeds have been much higher than previously, my profile (and connections) have been erratic.

It has dropped from 8128 sync to 2272 with the profile of 2000 as from 16.47 (and 16.48) on 15/12/07.

The Belkin wireless router showed the following data on Sunday 16/12/07

Data Rate 2752 down 448 up
Noise Margin 29.6 down 11.0 up
Output power 15.7 down 11.9 up
Attenuation 12.5 down 9.0 up.

I then turned the router off for 30 seconds and then back on

the data then was:

Data Rate 8128 down 448 up
Noise Margin 11.3 down 23.0 up
Output power 15.7 down 11.9 up
Attenuation 10.0 down 8.0 up.

The BT Tester has my IP profile as 2000kbps with a DSL connection rate as 448 up, 8128 down. Actual throughput as 1736 kbps.

Is there anything I can do about this without raising a ticket or (worse) getting a BT callout?

Thanks

If are you saying your connection rate is currently 8128, then you just need to wait until the BT systems automatically raise your profile back up (assuming this was just a one-off event), which will probably happen between now and Tuesday evening (ie. after 72 hrs). You have a seriously good line!

because of the large rise in sync, it will proberbly go back up within a day....

the new system BT have implamented means that after a drop in sync for a very short time, the profile will rise back up quickly....

If the SYNC speed is still varying then there is noise on the line which is causing it to reconnect and thus connect at different IP profiles. Now it's back at 8128, the profile will rise to 7150 providing the line is now stable again. If the SYNC keeps dropping, the IP profile will of course do so too. If this happens, it's time to investigate your setup to rule out the noise source
