I have just downloaded SP3 XP and upgraded my daughters PC

Everyminute I get a dialogue box appear saying

WLanCfgG.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Anybody able to help with what I have to do?

Didn't have this issue before I installed SP3

After installing SP3, I too had a problem. Almost every time I tried to access a web page in IE6, it was coming up with the Microsoft 'send/don't send' error message. A system restore brought things back to 'normal'. Looks like Microsoft haven't got it right - again! :(

Frank
I am a bit brain dead.
How did you do a system restore?
Les

Start> All Programs> Accessories> System Tools> System Restore

Hope you find it, Les! ;)

The version of SP3 that has recently been released is the beta version, the release version isn't expected until early next year.

So not being right is only to be expected really, ;) I certainly would not bother upgrading to the beta version. And if I was going to I would make sure I had recently imaged my Windows partition first - I don't like to rely on System Restore.

For the OP, the file in question appears (from Google) to be a Belkin wireless adapter related file, I suspect the drivers on the machine are't quite compatible with SP3 for some reason (or vice versa, depends on how you view it)

Thats better had a good nights kip :-)
Of course Frank, I do know how to do it, but my brain last night was totally dead.

Only problem I have is that System Restore will not run on hard disks smaller than 1 gigabyte (GB).

Only kidding, my hard disk is bigger than that. You see size does matter LOL.

I will do a system restore as Frank says but becuase of Gargoyle's comments about SP3 being still a beta version.

The otehr way is to rename the offending file name. I beleive things work fine if you do that. However with it being a Beta situation, its wait for the next problem.

Do you think that SP3 will create further load on the system once its perfrected :-) causing it to run slower. This is an older machine that runs slowly already, but is ideal for my daughter to do e-mailing and Internet and WP, so why spend money buying a new one.
The machine is at least 5 years old, but still running slowly but happily on XP and wireless.

Well its all back to normal again. Belkin support were great and so were ADSL24 (I think it was Ralph)
I restored back a few days, but still had problems getting the adaptor to recognise the Router.
Ah when will I ever learn to check things out before doing something.
Ta for all the help up above this post :-)

If what I have heard is correct, not only will you not see a slow down with sp3, but there is claim (from testers) that it gives up to 10% performance boost.
Also if you have a spare usb flash drive, you could try this http://www.eboostr.com/ (XP version of vista's readyboost)
