Hi,
I've done a search and couldnt find the answer but I am looking for a reliable ISP (youre top at the mo) and need a dynamic IP address.
Cant see anything like that on the site because that is important to me.
Is it only static or can I request a dynamic one?
Cheers

Hi steviegroves, welcome to the Adsl24 forums. AFAIK, only a static IP address is available. Why is it so important for you to have a dynamic one?

Thanks for the info.
I've always liked dynamic IPs. Personally I dont like the idea of being linked to an IP - takes away a certain degree of anonomity (sp) from the net and also makes it easy to target. Never seen the point of a static one when I dont need one and that was what was requested by my dad and just looking to fulfil his request.
Yes but thats still not going to hide you is it. If you have a dynamic IP the addresses are still registered to the ISP and the ISP knows who used the IP address at a given time, they do log all usage you know.
So dynamic or static makes no differance in my opinion.

Im aware of that but I also like to have the ability to delete cookies and temporary internet files..its just a habit I have gotten into. I just prefer the dynamic IP address...again its just a habit but one which I like. Its not that I have anything to hide...honest :-)....given the choice, dynamic everytime. Old habits are hard to break.

Visit jono02 POST (http://www.dslzoneuk.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2440) .What do you see in his banner display!!!!.....the information displayed will only be known to you, Its like looking in a mirror...you see a reflection of yourself.
Dynamic IP address....can be traced. the hacker will only take advantage if you have a poor security defence.
You can request a block of 8 static IPs(only 5 are usuable). No extra cost.

I know it can be traced but its a personal preference. I prefer green jelly babies, others prefer the black ones. I like the idea and premise of a dynamic IP. I have no database that needs to be maintained or a website that needs a static IP. This ISP for me on every other level would be perfect but for that fact. It ticks every box bar that one. If unlike most ISP's a dynamic IP was extra, I would pay that.

I like Red jelly babies.
All the Enternet reseller's use static IPs.
all the best in your search for a new ISP.

You can have the red ones.
Was involved in an incident when i was about with red jelly babies, coffee creams and a trip to Alton Towers. It did not end happily.
Thanks for your good wishes on the ISP search. It continues.......
