Well it's been a fun day, or rather night. I have to firstly admit ever since I signed up with ADSL24 I have loved the service, absolutely fantastic 7000kbps speeds pretty much whenever I want it. That was till tonight (and I know this isn't ADSL24's fault). Yep tonight I am enjoying blistering 500kbps speeds. Here is the test result from BT's utterly useless speed test site :-

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 6500 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 7616 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 194 kbps

Now thinking something might be awry with all my gear, I started on a wonderful 4 hour session of changing this, changing that, shoving it in this hole, that hole and wanting to shove it right up BT's hole. Anyway after exhausting everything I went and checked the Max reports section in my adsl24 account and discovered this :-

So clearly something happened at 11:14pm that caused me to be connected at a 500kbps (god knows what I didn't even know I had lost connection). However I have now got a 6500kbps profile but as you can see the throughput is still 500k

I have checked my router stats :-

I have no idea if that is good, bad, sexy, useless or just plain pointless but from what I can see from an old screenshot I took of the stats 2 months ago, nothing has changed. So to the whole point of this post, what do I do now, I mean if I am now back on a 6500 profile shouldn't I be getting the speeds again, should I just wait and see what happens, should I fire bomb BT's headquarters. Any help or guidance would be very much appreciated. Oh and ADSL24 still rocks, it's just right at this moment I want to hurl rocks at BT.

It will take up to 5 days for your d/l speed to match your profile.

Clearly something went awry with BT's systems - there's no way you should have ended up with an IP profile of 500 kbps. As your IP profile has now gone back up to 6500 kbps, I'm wondering whether the poor throughput you're still seeing is being caused by a RADIUS issue - give support a call to check things out.

Thanks for the replies guys. There is still no change here and I am even less of a happy bunny today I can tell ya, was kinda hoping the problem would go away. I guess I will have to put up with the naff speeds till Monday when I can contact customer support.

Oh I so want to do something nasty and brutal to BT right now. It annoys the hell out of me that for 2 years I have had a stable 6500kbps profile, then it hits one bump and the damn thing cripples your net. Seriously the guy that invented this system should under go gender change surgery with a rusty knife.

Yep. I've seen a few blips by BT's profile system over the past few days :(

Dosnt the interleaving error messages mean something? Maybe you should turn it off?
Idk

Finally plucked up the courage to phone technical support (I hate phoning technical support for anything). I am not sure who I spoke too but they were great, I was expecting the run around. You know test this, test that and test the other. But nope they were great and eyeballed the problem in seconds, apparently a stuck profile I think he said. Anyway he sent a refresh through the system and I just lost me connection a few minutes ago and now have FULL speed again, I would love to buy him a drink.

I seriously do not know how ADSL24 does it, I mean even when things go tits up they are still fantastic, if this was any other ISP I would be battling for months to get anything done.

Right now lets see if Debbie Does Dallas is on the news groups :D

Very boring (no pun intended) and poor quality, being copied from VHS. I don't know why people bother with NGs for (cough, cough) difficult-to-find old material. Torrents rule.

Nice to hear all is well.

It's things like this that made me sign up to adsl24, every time i jump on cod4 even when all hell is breaking loose with the centrals i can still manage a ping far better than say 99% of the people out there.

My brother pays half of what i do and is being tempted over, top job guys.
