I'm trying to install a new Buffalo WBMR-G54 router on my Vista laptop, and while the laptop and the router are connected okay, it won't connect to the internet. All it keeps saying is local access only. Anyone know why this is, or if there are any settings I can try to get it to connect? I've used the settings from the help pages of this site and still nothing...
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Ok, firstly, are you connecting to the router wirelessly - if so, I'd suggest using a cable temporarily - it's one less complication to worry about.
Secondly, is the router making it's connection to ADSL24 ok or not - your post is unclear as to whether the router isn't connecting or it is, but the laptop can connect to the internet.
If the router isn't connecting then usually it's becuase there is some error in the username passoword etc.

No, the router isn't connecting to ADSL24 at all. I've tried wireless and wired, and still all I'm getting is limited connectivity that won't let me onto the internet...

Hmm, when Windows reports 'limited connectivity' IME that usually means that the computer isn't able to get an IP address from the router, so it assigns it's own address - in the range 169.x.x.x in Windows XP IIRC, I guess Vista is probably the same.
Just to clear this bit up, Are you getting a sensible IP address on the laptop. To check this, open a command window (start > run > cmd) - type ipconfig /all at the prompt - look for the IP adress. IIRC, the default range for my old Buffalo router was 192.168.1.x
And are you able to log onto the routers admin pages ok?
I'm assuming you've tried a factory rest of the router?

Thanks for all your help, Gargoyle. Being the idiot I am, it turned out I had the ADSL cable in the wrong place! :o
