Have been using an application called Gadwin PrintScreen (http://www.gadwin.com/download/) to grab error messages and screenshots recently.
It has a good range of configurable capture options inc picture format, method of capture etc.
It seems to do its job very well .. and its freeware :)

:edit:

would never post a link I hadn't first tested myself ;)

Yeah all PCs at work have this pre-installed it's very good and easy to use.

I only wish I could find a way to force MS Photo Editor to display an image at 100% instead of 75% upon screen capture.

Just a note that the link in the OP goes straight to the .exe download which may freak out some users/corporate firewalls etc. Might be best to link to the site home page.

Cheers!

what's wrong with print screen?

Absolutely nothing Dale

Unless you want to only select a particular region of screen, select how the capture is output and in what format, process the image on the fly without a graphics app, configure how and when you capture or send the capture straight to email or a printer ....

If you use Vista, the snipping tool is excellent. (May have to manually add it though - under tablet pc optional components)

Well I've actually stopped using Gadwin PrintScreen now :D

Have started using the Vista Snipping Tool which seems to have most of the options I need...

And I tend to use GIMP for image editing, can't really justify Photoshop's price for occasional image tweaking ;)
