View Full Version : Central pipe rebalance
Following on from last night's maintenance work carried out by BT, we are now seeing an imbalance in the utilisation of the pipes. Unfortunately as BT will not supply a method of session steering we are unable to direct traffic to the under utilised pipe. We recommend that any users experiencing packet loss, reconnect to achieve better performance. We will also undertake some rebalancing work which may involve users being disconnected for a very short period of time.

Hi
Yes, higher and more variable pings. Normally very consistent.

so is this why alot of people including myself are getting ping rates of over 200ms with mine being at 280ms
Simply by rebooting the router should connect you to a better pipe. Now you see why BT's management of balancing the centrals really is poo ;)
This will all fade back to normal over the next 24hrs as the pipes rebalance.

Thanks James - I wondered what was going on. I was getting pings of over 200ms to the Beeb and a speed of just over 600kbps. I've just changed centrals and everything's fine now. (never had this kind of communication with Pipex!!!)
Rob
Could this be why noc.enta.net (http://noc.enta.net/) is giving me a database error and the Vista gadget only shows central one as green with no speed reported?
Many thanks for the info :) Does explain the higher pings as of late!
