View Full Version : Any ex Orange victims sorry customers ?
Can i ask for your help here ? :D
Sadly we have Orange BB at work and since Wednesday it decided not to work.
Internet Explorer just hangs and then "Web page cannot be displayed etc etc etc"
Been onto orange techi, are all the lights on ? YES
Uplug router, plug in router, change these settings, I've done that a zillion times YES !!
Done a ping test and that works fine although still cannot get on the internet. They obviously blamed BT, but line is fine and Orange concluded it was, and now they suggest the computer has lost it's Internet Explorer settings
tried another PC as well as my laptop from home and still nothing, any suggestions please ?
Orange really are not very helpful, all's fine their end so the balls in our court, so to speak

have you tried another browser on your pc such as Firefox or indeed on any of your pcs for that matter .......IE kinda sucks imo and it maybe that IE is blocked for some reason and somthing other than IE may work , Firefox is more secure against virus's as well
id try that and then change your provider cos that companys whos name i wont mention is even worse LOL
Again, sadly, my boss likes Orange and has just signed an 18 month contract.
I'm home now, but will try that Monday.
How would you suggest i get onto Firefox, type it into the address bar and see if it loads ? because i have no other way of getting internet access there

could download it and mail it to yourself or use a usb datastick assuming you have access to a usb port on the pc

if its only been live for a few days and there are issues, its reason to push to terminate the contract....
it could be anything from incorrect dns settings to no sync on the line...
if it was working, and its not now, proberbly someone messing with roter settings they know nothing about....

Hi deedum,
I have had exactly the same problems with Orange..It's not you, it's not IE 5,6 or 7, it's not your PC, your line isn't faulty and you have deleted all passwords, cookies and history and your modem, router or live box is working fine!...They are clever so as to make you, (or your boss) believe that it's your problem and can you "bear with them" while they escalate your problem to the engineers so they can cure it for you.
Complete and utter TOSH...I never went over my 40Gig monthly allowance while I have been with them and the other companies which took over from each other before them..They have all the details and call data in front of them hence the security questions they ask to access your file..They know you will have had a reoccurring and unresolved ongoing problem and exactly how long you have had it for.
Yet they still say like automatons, "very sorry you have been inconvenienced I will help you to resolve this problem today! but first have you got solid led lights on your modem?"....TOSH, TOSH and more TOSH.
I told them in the end, "please don't be offended but I have numerous PC's, (three in total) 2 connected and hardwired via Ethernet and one wireless, please don't tell me that my PC's are faulty at 5 o'clock in the afternoon and miraculously work perfectly again after 10-11.00pm on a daily basis, yet you still insist that there is no shaping or throttling going on and that there is a fault either with my line and/or my PC in between these hours!!!" TOSH..BS..Horse SH*t.
Sit your boss down and tell him that he is opening a Pandora's box of misery if he stays with Orange..if he doesn't listen to you, I will gladly have money on it that we will hear more stories and lies from you about them regarding the poor service, (your paying for but not getting) from Orange.

I left Orange to come here, It went downhill after the took over Wanadoo. Wan't a laugh, readwhat happened a couple of days ago.
I had a phone call asking to speak to me, my wife took the call, so I left them waiting for a couple of minutes,"your call is important to us..... sorry no music from me, sweet revenge :)" I then spoke to some woman who said she was Anne Marie, who said "I'm calling about your recent letter" (my telling them I was leaving and to scrap the Direct Debits as my Bank had been told to refuse them)
She asked me the first and last characters of my password, which I gave, then she wanted my address, I said "You have that information", she says "But I need to confirm who you are". I said "I need to confirm who you are, you tell me the address and I'll tell you if it's correct". More discussion which was going nowhere.
I say "What is you phone number can I call you back?" she says "I have an extension its internal I can't receive incoming calls". I asked "Do you have an email address, I can email you to confirm, that way I can be sure you are who you say you are, and not a scammer trying to get my personal information". "I don't have an email address" says she.
This is an Internet company and she doesn't have a company email address!!!
She said she was in Rotherham, I said "There is no Rotherham address on your website! it's difficult to find an email address to contact anyone at Orange as well".
After much argument I said "I'm not prepared to give any information out unless she confirms who she is, therefore she had better write to me".
This conversation had been going on for about 10 minutes, I await developments!!! What an absolute load of plonkers.
2 very interesting stories, i enjoyed reading :D
So what's next ? i got shirty with them and said we're paying for the service but getting nothing and i'm not stupid and have tried 3 computers and i refused to check if the lights were still on.
So what they playing at ? Anyone know what the problem maybe ?
We hardly ever use the internet at work anyway, there's only 3 of us there
I was with Orange - on a 18 month contract and 4 months into it they cancelled due to my exceeding a 40 gig limit on the unlimited broadband - so I was able to come here :-)
They then tried to charge me a cancelation fee of £30 to which I worte a 3 page letter about how I was on unlimited broadband, the Fair use policy was just a limit didn't take into account patterns etc and that they cancelled the contract not me and that I was charging them a cancelation fee of £30.01 and they wern't getting their fee until I got mine.
3 days later I had a stuttering drone from customer services grovelling on the phone to me about how the letter had been sent out by mistake almost laughed myself unconcious that day :-)
Well we phoned again today and they have now decided their is a fault, however it's between us and the exchange :D Whether that makes a difference that we can still "ping" an IP number or not ?
Funny but they ran 3 tests between Wednesday and Friday and all came back fine.
So now were told another 48 hours and we're back on-line, should be about a week since we reported it, good old Orange !!!
Your all probably bored of my ramblings, but update time - phoned Orange again today and we have to wait until Friday now another 48 hours until they sort the line fault :D
So by Friday that will be 1 week and 2 days with no broadband service. Tell your friends avoid Orange like the plague

That's orange for ya......been there done that...probably a new script out on Friday
To continue the saga from post #7, I've had a letter from said Anne Marie at Orange, it seem s they want £17.99 plus a £5 fee for late payment. They said that my account had closed on 8th having migrated to anothe provider, well I had already been on ADSL a week before that. I fee a letter to Watchdog coming on.
I shall reply but leave off my account number and the letter ref they can flipping well hunt for it!
Well Friday came and went, the lovely lady from Orange phoned us and told us of our next 48 hour delay :D 48 hours from Monday morning. That'll be 2 weeks now with no broadband at work
Their excuse ?? We're waiting for a part, to fix the line
Threatened to cancel and told us we'll be fined £192 if we cancel the contract and if we don't pay the baliffs will call. Not bad customer service from a company that can't supply a 2meg connection.
I'll keep you informed :D

The same thing happened to my dad related to a Visa issue, she wouldn't let him call her back from the Visa helpline, it took about 15 minutes, but it did turn out that she was from Visa - but like you, it was very suspicious and the woman could basically have been anyone.
LOL please stop its bringing the nightmares back, i left Orange to come to ADSL24 about 8 months ago (best thing i did) but what i did when i left was to email a letter of complaint of how poor the customer service and the BB service was to Eric Abensur who is the CEO of Orange Broadband, about a week later i got a letter back from Head of customer service offering me £56 for the poor service as a good will gesture, its not a lot but better im my pocket than theres, the best way to deal with Orange is to go as high as you can in the chain.
Well close of business today and guess what ?
Orange still haven't had the said spare part they were waiting for to fix our Broadband line
And yes, guess what ? Another 48 hours. That'll be 2 weeks and 1 day (that's if it comes back on Thursday)
