dmt tool

How do you use this tool

i have tried to connect and follow the kitz forum but says my port is not correct how do i find right port or do i have to forward a port??

If i have to do that not sure how to do it

I thought i had posted this thread already cannot find it though. If i have sorry for doing it twice, but my internet is lagging badly and not sure when something works or not

DMT connects to the router via Telnet on port 23.

Have you got the correct version for your router?

All you need to connect is insert the router login & password and click 'Connect'.

Correct version could be the problem but it said it supported my DG834GT netgear

It says "connection establishment failure there is no server running on the given port(or wont answer)"

I have version 8.05 which it says is correct but as i say it will not connect

That version supports the DG834GT, far as I can see.

Maybe it's a question of the router setup, with telnet connections being blocked? Can you telnet to the router via the command line? Can't really help you as I'm not familiar with that router.

Pay attention to the login on the DMT tool, you may need to try "admin", "Admin", "administrator" or "Administrator" and leave the password blank.

ps. I know it says Voyager 2100, but this is the general instruction for using v8, and covers Netgears

To gain access to the telnet service on the router, you must first enable debug mode on the router by entering the following link in your browser : 192.168.0.1/setup.cgi?todo=debug

This assumes that your router IP has not been changed from the default of 192.168.0.1 of course.

Now to test if it work just open up a regular telnet session, which on windows you can do by:
Start --> Run --> cmd

a dos window opens

You then type telnet 192.168.0.1
A telnet session should then start asking you for username and password
if that happens close the dos window and try DMT with your router pass/username

Tried debug which said enabled then cmd promt but came up with "busybox v1.00" in cmd

Also now the error has changed on DMT tool at the bottom it now says
"ERROR cannot find modemtype, DMT version8.05 for BCM 6338/6348/6358 (adslctl)"

Any ideas??

Many thanks for this advice just managed to get a speedtouch from dsldepot and could not log in until i read this about administrator and no password

I have a speedtouch 585v6 the version of dmt i use is 7.31
