View Full Version : Vpn
Sorry if this has already been posted. I can't get my VPN connection to work I get the error message 412 connection to the remote peer was terminated! not sure if this is an adsl24 issue or the works VPN settings. They tell me the VPN is up and running. Do ADSL24 block VPN connections? Any help would be appriciated.:)
We don't block any ports so it can't be that. 412 means the remote is not properly accepting your connection.
Sorry to sound thick but its the company and not me. I have looked at other website's and they suggest my .pcf file could be corrupt! so will check that out tomorrow. thanks for the swift response.:)

That's class - I like it.
Hi, I'm having the exact opposite problem. Increasingly I find that I can only connect to ADSL24 when I activate the vpn to my university network. I can't load pages, send or receive email until I turn on vpn. As soon as I disconnect vpn, I have no usable connection at all, though the OS thinks there is a good connection.
This is odd and not great, as I don't want to be using my work for purely personal purposes if I can help it. Any ideas?
I'm mostly using XP. Yesterday I installed Ubuntu 7.10 on this machine and am having similar issues. Seems to be a connection but firefox can't load pages. Managed to ping a site once then X hung up. Haven't got vpn on Ubuntu yet.

That's bizzare. What IP address and DNS is the Ubuntu box picking up?
I'm running XP at the moment rather than Ubuntu. Here are the connection details from my router which are independent of what OS I'm using presumably.
WAN Connection Type PPPOA
Status CONNECTED
Internet IP address 78.32.73.4
Subnet Mask 255.0.0.0
ISP Gateway Address 84.45.242.68
Primary DNS 195.74.113.58
Secondary DNS 195.74.113.62
WAN MAC Address 00-14-7C-AD-43-15
Everything fine tonight but previous two evenings and three or four times prior to that over the last couple of week I've had this strange situation of having to connect via the VPN.
Next time it happens I could post the connection details in a new thread here?
Meanwhile, now there is a good connection I'm going to try and get online with Ubuntu again.
