View Full Version : Still can't ftp to webspace
Well I am trying everything I can I still can't get ftp access to my webspace.
"
Can someone please tell me what "user ID" , "server", and "account" details i should be putting into AceFTP because I've tried all the permutations I can think of.
Normally its just your username and password, the one associated to your Adsl24 account, if thats what your on about that is?

Er no..not if the email I got from ADSL24 on signing up is to be believed, as I explained on the other thread. The webspace password is different to the ADSL log in password. That's how you set it up, isn't it ?
my ADSL BB username and password which was allocated to me when I signed up is different to the WEB hosting which has a different password. Both were in the confirmation email.

Well not quite, that appears not to be the case, as it hasn't worked , In fact, I am now advised that the original email quoted above from ADSL24 contained incorrect information and I should ignore that password and be using my ADSL login password for webspace access as well . Which I am now trying. However as yet, that hasn't worked either. This is all very frustrating for something that should be very simple and straightforward.
There are no problems with my FTP prog (eg firewall etc) as I can log in to another site as before.

Patr did you not check your PM's? I sent the login details :)

I did but as I said above those details are simply my ASDL username & password which also don't work for me for ftp use..

It should be the same username and password that you use to login to cPanel.
Did you try connecting to your entanet webspace? If not, perhaps give it a try to check that you are following the correct proceedure, firewall settings, ftp client settings etc?
Host = ftp.username.entadsl.com (username you chose when you first signed up)
User ID = username you chose when you first signed up (i.e. your Entanet one)
Password = password you chose when you first signed up (i.e. your Entanet one)
Remote folder = / (forward slash on it's own)
(Or if you did not choose any then they are probably called your Broadband username and password? I.e. not your ADSL24 ones!)
(Probably best described as the ones used to log into your account on the ADSL24 website!)
Nope Still nothing. Assuming the username & password are correct What do I enter for the required "account" and "server" settings that I need?
The C panel ftp settings say :
Make sure that you connect to ftp.(username).adsl24.co.uk with your FTP client or you may not be able to login.
but entering that as account or server doesn't seem to make any difference.

I use the client called WS_FTP
I don't know what much of it means but my settings are here: http://www.pat100.entadsl.com/ws_ftp.doc (http://www.pat100.entadsl.com/ws_ftp.doc)
PM me your details that you have and I'll see if I can connect from my end and that will eliminate a local problem and not a ISP/Hosting problem.
Regards.

Ok Thanks for the offer, Brian.
I have been out most of today, but just decided to download and try another FTP client and I have just logged in to the site OK. I still don't know the settings required for AceFTP but at least I know I get get in, and have something that works. It was my ADSL login password (and not the different one that was originally sent to me for webspace access as I indicated previously ) that worked.
I maybe will investigate the details of using AceFTP later and why it isn't connecting later.
Thanks for your responses everyone.
