I'm getting 2mps on an up to 8meg line from adsl24, are there any configurations i need to do to my router, the router/modem (netgear 834G) is saying it's recieving 8meg down and 448kbps up. I tried the BT speedtest and it freezes at 96% saying access denied. It says :

The Performance Tester is now testing Broadband connection. Your configured download throughput speed for this service is 2000 k

Please do not move away from this page and do not start any other download activity on your computer.

Classic - a 2Mb stuck profile. You'll need to raise a ticket with ADSL24, they will in turn get BTw to re-set the profile on your line, and after re-training your new profile will rise up to match your sync speed (which must stay constant).

Your members area will confirm the router sync rate and associated profile over the last few days and weeks.

Have you just migrated to ADSL24?

Usaully there is a training period like atsw said, so if you just joined ADSL24, id wait for that period to be over, your profile will then rise :)

Does speed go up at regular intervals or just once a day during this retraining do you know ?

During the first 10 days anything could happen :p. The system pushes your line to the limit (and over the limit) to see what the maximum stable rate is. After that, things settle down. See this sticky (http://adsl24.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=2382) for details.
