Think maybe my profile is stuck around 2 meg even tho I am on Max

What to do now?
Did you just migrate in to ADSL24. Sometimes at migration profiles do get 'stuck' at 2Mb, there's three of four such posts in this section of the forum. Just leave the router on-line and connected for the next 3 days. Don't switch it off, don't re-connect or re-boot, just leave it alone. Your IP Profile will come up to within 0.5Mb of your sync rate, it just needs a little more time. If still at 2Mb by Wednesday raise a ticket with ADSL24 and they will get it re-set by BTw. However, if you just leave things alone for a while it's 99% that your profile will rise all by itself to around 4Mb (that's how the system is meant to work, anyway).
Your Members Area will show any changes in sync and the associated profile.
Andrew
Yep - give it til say Wednesday and if it's not increased drop in a ticket with a BT speedtest result.

Yeah I migrated,
how do you resync without restarting your router?
The whole point is NOT to re-sync for the first 3 days. That way the system will see a stable 4.5Mb (as you have at the moment) connection and then raise your profile to around 4Mb. Once it's moved up, then it will follow your sync should the router re-start or the connection go down for some reason at some point in the future. Either condition will cause a new sync to apply.
Andrew
Anyone can re-sync without rebooting by unplugging the ADSL cable from the back of the router - not recommended of course.

but it slightly down because i am vpn'ing into work..
It re-sync'd itself and now has been up and connected for 9+ days solid

mines been 2 meg for a week and I dont know why they put me back on training those naughty electronic pixies.
Im getting really sick of this message
Your configured download throughput speed for this service is 2000 k
Arrrggghh!

If youve migrated then Enta say.....
When connection migrate to us, the training period for the line is reset
by BT. This retrains your maximum stable and fault threshold rates.
However, in past experience migrations often are capped at 2mbps until
the training period completes. This is due to the fact that there isn’t
enough data for the exchange equipment to set your IP profile.
Once the training has completed you will find that you are assigned the
correct IP profile for your line and as such throughput will increase.

its so annoying being capped at 2 when you can see that its a steady connection at double that, almost an off put to change ISP's really fortunately Pipex at the end was so poo Ill suck it and see
Raise a ticket the moment your 10 days training is up so they can kick Bt up the bum and get your ip profile sorted.
Bt really need a slapping for messing isp/customers's around like this ;/
BT need more than that Michael ;)
As posted elsewhere, the official word (regardless of what Enta tell me) is that migration do NOT go through another training period (except LLU ones or ones from Datastream). The problem is not what Enta think so, its with BT's way of dealing with these stuck profiles.
a) They have no automated system in place to unstick profiles
b) There is no fault category we can use when logging a stuck profile with them
c) Getting through to someone at BT who understands what a stuck profile is is like looking a needle in a haystack.
As always, we continue to pressure them every day hoping that someone at BT will pick up the real issue!

They should have some form of redress to these sorts of problems, they put Isp's in a tricky and time wasting position, and for the customer its doubly frustrating seeing your profile stuck at 2000 when its showing you on the test that its capable of so much more.
Still waiting....
Yes, they should indeed ,but they don't which is the proble, No matter how much we prod/ring/email them the only way the profile will go up is if they fix it!
In view of the fact that I think Watchdog did a piece recently about ISP speeds, would it be an idea if the real culprit ie BT was exposed, perhaps you ISP's should raise the matter with the Watchdog team to see if that prompts some action.

well thats my ten days up and.... Still at 2000
Yep, if the profile is stuck it will remain stuck until BT get their finger out. I presume we have already logged the fault for you - e.g. you have an open ticket?

What causes a stuck profile? The profile should increase after you have synced at a reasonably higher speed for a decent period of time.
Is it just BT's algorithms?
I seem to have got my self a stuck profile.
Swapped from a Netgear DG834 to a Zyxel P-661 today and at the same time did some tweaking of the extension wiring.
Plugging the router into the test socket, i was getting 7681K connection speed.
Plug the face plate in that has the extension wired to it, and it dropped to 5261K.
Pulled the extension of the face plate and tried again and got 7002K.
Put the extension back with just 2 and 5 connected and got 7002K again, so well happy.
But as far as my line is goes, even though the BT speed checker puts my profile at 6000K im only getting 1600K max on downloads.
Guess i'll leave it a few days and see if it sorts its self out.

When you run bt speed tester and it says that your IP profile for your line is - 4000 kbps does that mean you are restricted to 4000 even if your syncing higher than that?

Depends on what you are syncing at. The IP profile is less than the sync rate.
So an IP profile of 4000 would equate to a sync rate of between 4544 and 5088 kbps.
See Kitz's site for more details (http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/IPprofile.htm)
If your sync rate is higher than 5088 then your IP profile should rise (with in a few days of the sync rate change) to a higher one.
As an update on mine in the last hour or so mine has now hopefully finally been sorted and I have jumped from download of max 1.8 ish to 6500
So you can see why some of us get frustrated when it takes so long after migration and so many phone calls etc to get back to normal....
http://www.speedtest.net/result/248003303.png
obviously see how it goes and if it doesnt drop back to a 2meg profile obviously I will be chuffed and I then turn from an unhappy customer into a happy one , if I had just left as some suggest then I would have been an ex ADSL24 customer and remained an unhappy customer who couldnt recommend.
Aas much as some dont like people discussing thier very real problems here as with all ISPS they do exist and the only thing that gets my goat is when some think they are helping by saying mines ok if yours isnt then dont moan just leave.
It does both sides good for people to see that thier are issues especially if they get sorted , rather than just calls like "you know where the door is".
Some of those that havent had problems may feel different IF they drop from 6.5 meg to a MAX of 1.8meg for 13 days for no apparent reason

hmmm I'm thinking an FAQ needs to be written for training speeds :P

I hope you have an easier time getting it fixed than I did it took 13 days and many phone calls to Enta sales / accounts and technical on the day it actually got sorted as a last effort I took the day off work and made regular calls , it really shouldnt have to be that way , loosing a days pay is not something that I wanted to do when we had migrated to save money.
If I was you I would call Enta asap and also send an email to sales telling them that you had assumed from the adverts that there would be little or no disruption to your service upon migration and that you consider a huge drop like that a disruption in your usual service , it may help but its likely that they will tell you that they cant do anything till after 10 days..
Dont just let it lie or just put a ticket in here in my opinion you need to call Enta everyday as well .
If its any use it does get better after the caps lifted and hopefully things will get quicker sorting these "capped" or stuck profiles out.
2 members of my family migrated to plusnet last week and neither are on a ten day capped profile both hit full speed within hours so its clearly not accross the board and they also came from F2Surf / pipex .
My service has now gone up from its capped 2meg profile to roughly what it was with Freedom 2 surf but you probably wont be getting the speeds you used to get in your signature all the time Ive found that even now my profile is correct the speed is nothing like it was at freedom2surf when its busy but its likely that pipex and f2surf were going to go down the pan anyway.
But as long as it stays stable it will probably do for me . :)
We are still waiting to hear from Entas account manager why this actually happens.
To note also. Plusnet == BT wouldnt surprise me if they act a little nicer to one of their own companies..
