My migration to ADSL24 starts 22nd March.

Im with AOL at the moment and have had major speed issues for well over a week speed tests showed a speed of around 489 kbps then for 3 days it dropped to around 130 kbps.

Aol sent a bt engineer who found no fault he even fitted an NTE5 face plate so now filtered at the master socket so my set up is now the best it's ever been.

Today speed has picked up to 5.2mb but i have noticed my router is synching at 6496kbps which is a drop for months it's always synched at 8128kbps.

The face plate has improved noise margin coupled with me removing the bell wire after he left:)

What concerns me is when i switch over if my router synchs at its present level i can not expect to bettter the speed that has now returned and i know before the problems i was getting close to or better than 6.5mb on a daily basis.

Router is a netgear DG834Gv3 stats are downstream connection speed 6496kbps ---Line Attenuation 12db ---SNR Margin 15db..These readings are fairly constant. I live 450 metres from exchange

If my line is in 10 day training is it likely to synch back at 8128kbps as i want to crank the best speed i can get..

Also if it does not synch at what i know it can ,i cant really keeping rebooting it to try and improve speed as the dslam will see this as a problem and lower my ip profile

Any help appreciated

I think it must come down to what exactly caused your speed to drop so low in the first place. The fact that the BT engineer found no fault does not mean there is no problem lurking somewhere. Intermittent faults are the most difficult to pin down. Migration will not necessarily mean a retrain, & migration per se may not alter anything.
