Firstly, many thanks to Support (James). I recently raised a ticket (100-2402) re slow speeds and after some enquiry, I was advised that a router should be better than my ageing Speedtouch USB modem. On discussing it with my friendly local computer guru, he was a bit sceptical but I said I'd give it a try. I didn't want or need a wireless router (one computer only), so he got me a Netgear D111P Adsl2+ethernet modem. It worked a treat immediately. We (the guru and I) did some tests and they showed a download speed of nearly 6Mgps. Guru said he'd never seen anything as fast. I've had it for a week or so - speeds do vary - presumably dependent on traffic - but I'm regularly getting between 3-4Mgbs and often 5-6 Mgbs. So, Support's advice was bang on.
I am quite near to the exchange and I would'nt want anyone to think I'm promising the same results, but if you're still using a USB modem, it may be worth a try. Also, as and when ADSL2 arrives, I'm ready for it.
