View Full Version : Does anyone make this?
Hi. Does anyone know of a router that combines:
1: ADSL Modem
2: Wireless AP (b,g or n)
3: Gigabit LAN
I can find quite a few units with wireless n (draft), and Gigabit LAN, but no DSL Modem.
I know I could just plug the wireless (n), 10/100/1000 unit into a modem and do it that way, but surely someone makes a combined unit.
Any ideas?
Regards Terry.

Netgear DG834G 54Mbps Wireless ADSL Modem Firewall Router with 4-port 10/100 switch
That's the router I'm using right now, which is great, but I want a router with a 10/100/1000 (Gigabit) switch, along with modem and wireless.
Thanks for looking though.
Terry.

Best i can come up with ANY GOOD (http://www.broadbandbuyer.co.uk/Shop/ShopDetail.asp?ProductID=4264)
Cliff:)
Hmmm. That's about the best I can come up with too. There's a few of those types around, but it doesn't include an ADSL modem. You have to plug a seperate modem in via the WAN port.
I can't uderstand why they don't build a modem in, they're cheap enough these days.
I guess I could just plug one of those D-Link units into my netgear modem/router, but I have enough crap plugged in already. I was hoping for an all in one solution.
Looks like I'll have to wait a bit longer.
Oh well..... I always want stuff that's not been built yet.:)
Thanks for that though, much appriciated.
Cheers.
Terry.
It's a shame netgear don't do a gigabit version of the 834N - they do a 10/100 and a gigabit version of the standalone router but not the modem/router.
Makes no sense to me.

I use a netgear gigabyte switch "model GS605 V2" Just plug my old dg834g modem/router version 0. in to this and away I go, now all my pc's on the network are 1 gig lan :-) and the little switch only costs £25, Got mine from ebuyer.. http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/search/?qfind=GS605
if its any help :-)
I was thinking about that but it's yet another device that needs to be plugged in.
I'm trying to cut down my electricity use not add more things to it :D
I really need gigabit now though, just got myself a nice hp mediavault NAS and that 100mb transfer speeds just don't cut it ;)

Yup. The only thing is.... It says under Requirements, that a modem with ethernet connection is required.
I was hoping to get an all in one, including modem. Not one I need to plug in as an extra.
Nice try though. Cheers.
I know this is digging up a year old thread, but at last, I finally found one and it's sitting on my desk at the moment.
Belkin N1 Vision ADSL Modem/Router - N1 wireless and with a 4 port gigabit switch built in. And I quite like the built in display, let's you see your download speed, connected wifi devices etc..
Bit pricey tho, and I must admit I'm not a big fan of belkin products generally (I work at PC World, and the cheaper belkin routers tend to get returned a lot..), this seems to be a nice piece of kit, and has been working fine for me for the last 2 days.

I saw the Draytek, but it appears to only have a single Gigabit port?
Not quite sure on the point of that...
