Connecting to xbox live...!!!Help

Hello all

I am trying to connect to xbox live and wondered if there is something 'adsl24' related that I might need to do.

Basically I am connected via rj45 cable from xbox to a Netgear dg834g modem/router.

During the network tests it confirms Network adaptor as wired and IP Address, DNS, MTU and ICMP all as 'Confirmed'. However, the individual Xbox live test says 'Failed' with no hint as to why.

This is on a brand new Xbox Elite purchased today.

Any ideas?

PS - I tried entering my adsl username and password in the additional settings part but that made the ip address fail!!!

turn upnp on in the router con fig if im right the netgear has it off as default reboot the router and retry also try rebooting the 360 and there is nothing adsl24 related to do
edit sometimes xbox live can be a bit funny

oh and make the xbox get the ip address automatically from the router

I had checked the UPnP side of things and everything was ok. It would just not connect to Xbox live for some reason.

Anyway this morning after one day in my possesion the hardrive failed!!! 1 red ring. Worked fine without the HDD but always failed when it was attached.

Got the whole system replaced and strangely enough I connected no problem to my new machine!!

Must have been a dodgy one................
