Does ADSL24 have access to newsgroups? According to DSL Zone UK, there is access, but I can't find any evidence of it. I know I can do Google groups, but prefer to use news account through outlook. Anyone know??
Ta!
AFAIK there's access to newsgroups through Enta, but it's text-only groups, not binaries.

Great! Thanks for the info - works perfectly.
For future reference, the news server address is "news.enta.net"

For "future reference" why not include the information in the package details?

Yes I put the Enta newsgroup server onto Outlook Express.
Haven't quite worked out the email yet. I can send but not receive.
This information will be added to our product pages :)

It would be too costly probably for them to set this up as the amount of server space/capacity/power required for such machines is quite hefty.

I use Easynews.com for about a fiver a month its well worth it.
Zen have their own news servers (whom ive now come across from) with a retention of about 5 days but the number of corrupt files were horrendous, best to stick with a dedicated service

I just migrated today and am accessing ADSL24 fine via my user account xyz@adsllogin.co.uk on my router, but I can't seem to get access to newsgroups over at news.enta.net using user account "xyz" or "xyz@adsllogin.co.uk" or "xyz@adsllogin" on my newsreader - I'm just getting a "502 Authentication Error".
Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong or where I can go for help ? (I can't find anything here or over at the entachoice forums). Thanks in advance.
AIUI authentication is not required. Clear all those details and all should be well.

Remove the username/password. Authentication is IP based.

Thanks everyone - that's done the trick. Sorry I should have tried that in the first place but wasn't thinking. ;)
