Hi all,
Although Windows update has downloaded SP1 it repeatedly fails to install.

I have even downloaded the full SP1 from microsoft and still not installing. It gets to the point of installing stage 3 of 3 100% and then re-boots and says it is not installed and is reverting back.

I am in contact with Microsoft help an all their suggestions fail to resolve the problem.

Apart from re-formatting and re-installing I am at a loss as what to do. I would rather not re-install Vista but may be the only way.

Anyone with suggestions? It would be appreciated.

Cheers

Bertie

Hi Bertie

Have microsoft asked you to try the update readiness tool to verify the integrity of the system files and registry if not its worth a go, the link below will take you to the page that explains what the tool does and also has a download link at the bottom http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821/

Hope it helps

Darrell

Hi Darrell,

Thanks for your reply but it found nothing amiss.

I have had further replies from microsoft and have edite registry and other command line instructions but to no avail.

It makes it slow going as it takes about 24hrs for each e-mail response except weekends when it takes from Saturday till Tuesday.

I am beginning to feel that a reformat re-install may be the answer but am reluctant just in case it makes no difference.

Anyway thanks for the advice.

Cheers

Bertie
