every night my d/ stream db drops below 6 causing my internet to stall.
Tried using DMT tool to keep at about 6.5 but it dropped i had to resync this causes my profile to drop.
any ideas what i can do or what causing it:confused:
You could try raising it to 9 db with DMT, this will help to stabilise your connection albeit slightly slower

Slowers a nasty word LOL if i had 6/7 mb no probs but only have little old 2.5:( :D ;)
Obviously you are on a long line with a d/stream attenuation over 40db
The only thing you can do is find a "happy" medium, using DMT.
There is not a lot more I can suggest apart from a fixed 2Mb :(

thought about fixed 2meg but they seem to cost more and i am happy here:confused:
Remember........stability is far more important than speed, even on a line like yours Static. The last thing you want want is a lower profile due to re-synching.

That's for an unlimited usage product though.

I know there's nothing else shown on the ADSL24 website, but have you checked this with James?

No
James???
Fixed 2meg won't solve all problems if your line is long. In fact, if its over 43db attenuation downstream BT won't even give you fixed 2meg.
Have you checked the setup at your end as regards to sockets etc - http://dslzoneuk.net/socket.php - and also, other routers may (or may not) be better at holding noiser lines
Fixed 2 meg is more expensive as BT want everyone on 8meg, plus the 2meg is unlimited with no caps - some prefer that rather than the 8meg speed and messy profiles and BT's monitoring systems messing up their line.

your first paragraph explains why AOHell kept saying i could not have 2meg thanks
You mentioned in another post about the netgear having trouble with noise on long lines do you think a different router might help me to be more stable??
If so what are the recommendations from our resident boffins
Speedtouch seems to be fav for most are these modem routers??

I have a long line. With my last ISP my Netgear worked fine but I am using a Speedtouch at the moment. And I can use the DMT Tool.
Yes, the Speedtouch ones have a lot of advantages - but some people don't like the interface (GUI). But in terms of performance and stabality, being based n the Broadcom chip - I don't think there is anyhing better in the same price band as the Speedtouch(s)
