6.30pm Got home last night to find my connection had been moved to ADSL24 !!!

6.45pm Looking around the web and everything is great, speed of web pages is faster than I have ever had.

7.00 Best test was to download something, YAY! 8meg this just can't get any better!

10.14pm PROBLEMS!!! download speeds have gone down to a very bad 1.5/2mbps.

I moved from my last provider as the connection at 6.30 was 56k but had 8mbps after 11pm. Fine for my wife but crap for me.

I really didn't expect to pay for an 8mb connection and get 1.5...

Seems to be a case of too many users for too little bandwidth.

Looking on the entanet site tells you that they expect to upgrade but for some reason don't tell you when this is going to take place.

Whats the point in showing you two new pipes and their expected speed when they don't exist and I guess won't for a long time yet.

Even when this is upgraded will it be enough to cope with current users let alone new accounts.

I hope things change soon or this will be a very long month....

And before you say this is all down to the 10day initial testing, nope, this was done a long time ago with my old provider and has never changed, the test is from you local exchange to your router.

Hi there.

It really isn't fair to judge us after just one night of being connected. You probably know that all ISP's suffer slow periods during busy times. We are no different. The new pipe was scheduled for this month but put back to next tdue to problems with BT (nothing we can do there). As off-peak starts at 10pm - it's when everyone logs on and starts off downloading massively - thats the reason why you see it slowing down.

You are getting an up to 8Meg connection as you have said in your first few lines. If you were very pleased then, you cant be dis-please just a few hours later when it slows down surely. This iswhat happens to all ISP's at busy times - some more than others, but we are working on that by installing the extra capacity pipe.

P.S. The 10 day training period starts again on most migrations.

Thanks :)

James

I feel the same as you portems just give them a chance if after the extra pipes come online you feel the same then move from what i have been reading most if not all ISP's have had the same problem at one time. They have to play catchup with demand.they will slow your conection to 2meg when its busy but everboby will be the same. But gaming wont suffer.
I migrated from AOL they drop the service to 512 online gaming was pants and they dont let you know at least adsl24/entanet are honest and tell you whats going on.

Hi James

I will be more than happy to wait for the new pipe, I really would like to find a perfect ISP, and this does seem to be a very nice place and provides everything I wish from the internet.

I was just very shocked by the fact that my connect was so bad after 10pm, with the last ISP this would be about 5mbps for about an hour then would float back to 8mpbs, by 11.30 it would be rock steady.

I have not seen floating 2mbps since I really did have a 2meg connection.

Is there a page that shows a graph of hourly usage?

Do you know how many users Entanet have connected after 10pm?

Many thanks

I think you have to wait 10 days before knowing what you will get speedwise.
