Hi,

Many thanks James for the fast hookup after Biscit went down. Got connected today as expected. The router does not seem to be training though.

Did a BT test and this is the result for the Office 45 Plan:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:
IP profile for your line is - 2000 kbps
DSL connection rate: 576 kbps(UP-STREAM) 3104 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1860 kbps
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MTU is 1492
Used the BT DNS Servers:
194.74.65.69
217.35.209.180

SNR: 10.5
Att: 49.0

I live out in the sticks a bit so I know I'm not going to get great speeds but it would be useful to get your comments (and maybe others)

Cheers for now.

Your line is quite long so thats a good speed (3Mb). Your IP profile is stuck at 2mb (IP profile = 2000 kbps) but this will sort itself within a few days normally. If it's still at 2000 after the 10 days we can get on to BT for you :)

Hi,

I must too congratulate James for no-nonsence, to the point, honest opinions.

I was also digestive customer, continualy being dunk'ed in coffee. I am now up and running (as of yesterday Cheers!) and my capped speed is also 2mb.

I have no doubt it will sort its self out, but after being a rather disgruntled as above user I'd had this setup for months, and "they" never sorted it.

Anyways, heres to a brighter? future..

line test as indicated via BT.

IP profile for your line is - 2000 kbps
DSL connection rate: 832 kbps(UP-STREAM) 7616 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1276 kbps

router info.

Operational Mode ADSL G.Dmt
Upstream 832 kbps
Downstream 7616 kbps
Noise Margin (Upstream) 9.0 db
Noise Margin (Downstream) 8.5 db
Attenuation (Upstream) 23.0 db
Attenuation (Downstream) 38.5 db

Thanks.

Carl

You could probably manage full synch on that line Carl, if interleaving was turned off (assuming you don't have masses of errors).

The 2 Mbit profile is something that should clear itself after 3 days or thereabouts but, if it hasn't gone after 10 days, get support to have it fixed.

Cheers Ircsum,

As far as im aware, for the past 12 or so months its never had errors. It's always been a good stable (and quick) line (till my ex isp) then it went pear shaped.

I assume if any changes are to be made to the line, it'll be ever the 10days. Will request to have interleaving turned off after.

Thanks for the heads up tho .. much appreciated!

Morning,

I know there is a 10 day period, whilst the BT connection finds a "sweet" spot.

I've had no disconnections or uneven speeds since activation (weds 28th) but the profile still states 2mb.

How can BT find the "optimum" speeds if i'm still capped at 2000k.

IP profile for your line is - 2000 kbps
DSL connection rate: 832 kbps(UP-STREAM) 7616 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1823 kbps

This is not normal practice during the training period. Some lines do get stuck with the 2000 profile and yours looks to be one of them. BT are very fussy about uncapping a profile manually but as soon as the 10 days are up, if it's still 2000 let us know via a ticket/email and i'll log it as a fault with BT.

Hi guys,
Appologies if I'm posting in the wrong place.

I only migrated yesterday, and I understand that during the training period speeds will be on the slow side, but I'm worried that I may have a similar problem as above.

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 2000 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 7616 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1752 kbps

My IP profile also appears to be just 2000 kbps.
Should I be concerned about this ? or is it just part of the training period ?

Many thanks :)

It is normal during the trainng period and happens to the majority of lines. As soon as the 10 days are up we can log a fault with BT about your stuck profile. Just send us a ticket/email on the 10th day if it's still stuck at 2000.
