Hi,
First of all, hello to everyone here:)

Have just been migrated to ADSL24 today on the 8mb package, from UKFSN 2mb package, which i was with for a year or so.

Unfortunately my first post here will be to tell you about problems i'm having with my connection.

We have 2 lines in the house. My wife is using the original line that was here when we moved. She has sky plugged into her line and is using an extension (not the master socket) and is with AOL on a 2mb package. She has had zero problems and consitently downloads at around 240 kb's, and speedtest.net and the thinkbroadband speedtest give her results of around 2000 kb's.

I'm on a new line we had installed when we moved here (January this year).
No extensions, and plugged into the test socket behind the master socket faceplate for the last few days.

I've never achieved the same speeds as her but i considered them ok, but over the last week or so my connection seems to have got worse.
I can download the exact same file as her and my speeds will vary between 120 kb's to 200 kb's. It fluctuates constantly going up and down throughout the download.
My speedtest results are always between 1200 to 1500 kb's

I know 2 lines, even coming into the same house are never the same but it seems like a big discrepancy to me.

Now the strange part.

If i connect her pc to my line... it performs much better, Downloads arent as fast as her AOL connection but they are at least constant. Same with an old laptop i've tried. So it's my pc right?
If i connect my pc to her connection it flies. No problems at all.

So i basically have been concentrating on my pc.
So far I've reformatted and reinstalled windows twice, (once on a different harddrive)
Replaced the motherboard with a new one.
Tried a different PSU.
Tried 3 different graphic cards.
Swapping the ram around and trying each stick one at a time
Tried a different network card (PC has inbuilt NVidia ones)
A different router
swapped cables around with new ones till im blue in the face.
Different filters.
I've tried connecting to my router (upstairs) wirelessly from downstairs.
Tcpoptimizer

Some of the above was just to try and find out if it was some kind of electrical interference causing it

To add insult to injury, i obviously unplugged the router too often on 22nd june because my ip profile changed from 7150 to 750 and has been there since:(

It's not the line obviously if 2 other machines can get decent speeds out of it.

But for some reason, my pc connected to my line don't like each other and i'm out of ideas now.

Sorry it was so long, just figured it was best to include as much info as possible

first of all, if you have just changed from a 2mb fixed speed, to 8Mbit max,,, you will have a line training period. for up to 10 days, your line speed will change up and down..... it should settle down after the training period....

once the training period has finnished, then see what the line stats are then
