Computer running slow

My computer seem to be running slow and also i get a message on the top of my screen saying internet explorer not responding.it as been doing this for a few days now.
I wondered if any body could give me some advise on how to solve the problems i am having just now.

You could try a defrag and a diskcheck:cool:

Run an AV and a spyware scan, download ccleaner (http://www.ccleaner.com/) and run that, make sure all your updates are done.

Another one is to check the startup programs, the only way I know of doing that tho' is through the msconfig command, and if you don't know what your doing, I would not recommend it.

could be a list of stuff but without more info from you can't help further,
however what version of IE are you using? version 6 or 7?
had problems myself with both IE6 and IE7. ended up using alternative browser. you possibly have virus spyware etc on your pc. full scan your pc for viruses etc, try defrag, make sure you have all critical updates for Internet Explorer plus make sure your firewall is up to date.
good luck rectifying your problem as we all know pc's can be a pain in the ar** at times :)
